as much as I thing its wrong to slaughter animals for their fur, what difference does it make now, they are already dead, nothing is going to bring them back. if someone else wants to pay for it and wear it, why not profit from them.

it's fairly simple to work out, purchasing these items simply encourages the circle, it there's a market then they will continue to be killed, if there isn't then the circle ends. People eat cats/dogs etc and if you had one dead in front of you would you say oh it's ok it's already dead what's the harm in trying it?

It was just a question. We should all be entitled to our opinions and beliefs, and as such, we should all be permitted to respond to the question. This forum is lead by people who are motivated by Stalinism.

I dont own a real fur coat, I know somebody that does though. I just thought id ask the question for info purposes only. Any cruelty to animals is aweful, we all know that. Look at it another way....I eat meat, and lots of it, but theres no way I could actually kill an animal, let alone eat it afterwards!! Heck, I couldnt even eat a freshly laid egg unless its in a cardboard eggbox from the fridge!!

but wer all fine with this
http://eats.com/images/stories/eats/foodie_news/july_09/butcher.jpg
an animal is animal at the end of the day

its not like the OP did this themself

im not saying we should all stop eating meat, and im not saying that killing foxes is ok, because animal cruelty is awful, but come on, lay off abit. the demand is there for these regardless, surely its better to sell existing ones rather than get rid of them all and more killing occur to feed the existing
demand

are there not any laws against killing animals for fun or just for 'trophies' as it were, i thought there was?
i suspect if there is its not worldwide thow

To people who complain about fur and then stuff a steak or a chicken down their throats.

Like above, an animal is an animal, bred or not bred to be eaten, look in the fridge, most people have a pig, cow and chickens in theirs, yet people complain about some fox.

Now sure, some animals do get skinned alive still for fur, but there is a lot of animal cruelty for dairy products and still chicken products, and then there are fur companies who only use fur from dead animals or from animals that HAVE to be killed due to animal numbers in that area. And what about non meat products, products that are destroying rainforests because land is needed? That instantly kills animals and has made a lot extinct already.

...

People complain about one thing yet in their homes there are many products linked to the killing of animals.

I inherited one, it is made of silver fox fur 'cabbages', so the furrier's pick of the best furs, and recently it was valued at £2,000 :w00t:
There aren't many furriers about these days but if you can find one it'd be worth asking them for a valuation - I was having the arms lengthened on mine so they told me the price then. My grandma had had the arms shortened for my mother (it was her 21st birthday present) and kept the bits they had removed, I always thought she was a hoarder but on this occasion I am grateful for it!
It is absolutely gorgeous and older than I am so don't feel guilty, they were already dead by the time I was given it.

Tell me the difference, please.

An animal is born, and then it's killed for the purpose of a human.

No difference, so it is you who is one of those "Ignorant" people.

I see you left out deforestation there for everyday products.

:? they were already dead by the time anyone was given it, do you realise the resale of these items is what encourages the abhorrent killing of these animals for nothing other than vanity?

Just because you tell me to shut up doesn't make you win, infact it makes you look more and more stupid after every post.

Prove me wrong, or "you" should actually shut it.

They were dead for 50 years before I got it so I do not see how me keeping or using the coat encourages the killing of any animals. They were not killed for me, and to be honest I would prefer that the animals didn't die in vein and to get some use from the coat.

surely the resale of these items reduces killing of these animals
at least people can buy ones that already exist, if they didnt exist the only way to get one would be to kill the animals. if someone really wants one and has enough money theyll get one whether theres one for sale or not, they get one by 'other' means if neccessary, thats what money can do
the desire for these is going down, because alot more people dont agree with it, but if the amount for sale stays the same, then the killing should surely reduce. by stopping the sale of such items we are forcing those with a want for one of these to literally kill for one. I see ur point, im not saying animal cruelty is right in any way, and killing these beautiful creatures is wrong. but surely, even slightly u can see my point

No, in a word, because the re-sale makes them desireable, people see them, want one, and so on, surely you can see THAT point?

god ur so narrow minded!!
yes i see your point, its like keeping up with the jones's, everybody is like that
but also:
desire + no coats available =killing for fur
desire + coats = less killing for fur

so uv said that if no coats existed to buy, no1 would want one?
even if every single fur coat that existed was burnt, people would still want one because we know about how fashionable they once were, what a niche/rarity they are, and we see them in photograhs and films. the only way to stop it happening is to mind wipe us all to the fact fur coats/rugs etc existed

unfortunately, really no matter what we do, sell or not sell, killing foxes will continue because demand happens either way, because there is none to buy, or because more people want them
