Not half!!, I've just had a look, very hard to get around on, I think I'd get disenchanted after a while. I like it here better...."keep it simple, stupid"...much more my cup of tea :)

I found HUKD because I couldn't cope with the MSE site. Every MSE link seems to send me in circles and a search usually brings up outdated information from 2003.:x I thought it was just me being thick until I found HUKD.:)

It's much more user and people friendly here and there's always a couple of mods around to ask about the technical stuff. I've found out more here in the last 5 months about searching the web and using forums than I have in the last 5 years.

Think it's similar to BSE - both certain to give you mad cow disease.

MoneySavingsExpert is a great site and has been very useful in the past. It still is, but it's also healthy for comparison rather than competition. Deals found here are shared there and vice versa :) But we have some great members too, as you've already found out from the above :-D

Welcome to HotUKDeals by the way MrGrumpyman ;-)

Had a quick look and found it very heavy going. I had a look in particular the flight area (my speciality) and found it extremely cramped for choice, and the offer of 1p flights is not as good as expected (if you are travelling with young family members). The choice of destinations was also limited to budget airlines in the main. Soooo.....

Here is my tip for finding a cheaper flight to anywhere in the World, (I said cheaper, not cheap).

If you buy or check flight prices on line never put the actual dates that you want to travel on, in the search boxes. If you want to travel out on the 10th and back on the 20th, start your search for departing on the 4th and back on the 16th, for example. Then move the dates to the exact dates you want and you will find the price lower. This is because the search engine is designed to charge you the most expensive price for the day YOU want to travel, if the engine sees you are moving dates it thinks you might not travel with them at all so the further you move away from your dates the less likely you are to book, therefore it offers you cheaper prices to keep you interested. When you reach your desired date you should have saved a few more pounds, even if this means travelling on a weekend date.

Also set yourself some target prices, New York and Toronto for £199, Miami for £220, Hong Kong for £300, Dubai for £180. Go on give it a go.

Also book a hotel for your first night on-line or see what hotels the airline are trying to get you to stay in. Then do a google search for that hotel and see what they will charge you if you book direct, again savings of as much as 50% can be saved. When you get to the hotel, as the desk about local deals on sightseeing, taxis, show tickets. These are the prices the locals pay so why don't you.

MSE is GREAT I think!

How ever, I like this board more because people seem to be here for the same reason - a good freebie or deal!

MSE however has many many people in debt, looking for a house, and many more from all backgrounds and needs. That makes it cluttered, but if you can plough through, you get plenty of offers you don't see here over there. And also, we get many more here, that they don't get over there!

It's a WinWin situation, I have both of them on my nav bar for quick access ;)

Oh.. and MSE has articles, and is not purely based upon a forum.

MSE is founded upon the journalistic desires of one man, applaudable they maybe, but thats what it is to me, with a forum, cluttered it maybe, but is more wideranging for it and yes I agree the design leaves alot to be desired.

I could speculate on HUKD foundings, but I won't, but it's ALOT nicer to use and I prefer it, it is a far more focused site.

It'll be interesting to see where HUKD and MSE goes in 2007.

The info at MSE is 1st class, finding the info that you need is the problem.
