A toilet seat !!!! granted it wasn't your run of the mill plain white one LOL My face when I opened that !! I would have been insulted but my mate of over 20yrs bought it for me and sad to say her "gifts" are always a little unusual

As long as they're not of the novelty variety I'm always very pleased receiving at least one pack of socks. One of those things i'm always reluctant to go out and spend my precious earnings on :)

Worst present I ever received was off my Grandma several years ago.
Basically a film on VHS of whales and other aquatic creatures interspersed with school choir footage and naturally full chorus soundtrack - dreadful.

Considering I was listening to groups like Cypress Hill at the time I thought it was hilarious!

If anyone ever buys me one of those ridiculous con charity gifts where you get a card that says 'Instead of buying you a present I bought some african kid a goat' they will receive a nice new years present from me, and it'll still be warm.

Bookmark with inbuilt booklight.

I was 17, becuase my aunt (who boasts better facial hair than myself I may add) believed that rather than being on the streets with with my mates and a bottle of cidar (or lambrusco if we had enough pennies) I would be at home reading..... for pleasure!

I don't see anyone admitting to the worst present they've ever bought anyone. I don't believe for a second we all have good taste, or at least sustain it 100% of the time, lol :p

My husband bought me a very expensive underwear set he was working away.

He couldnt wait for me to open it.

The bra was too BIG & the pants too SMALL......

The set has remained in the box ever since, theres no way my butt would fit into the pants, & the gift had me left with a complex so NOT the outcome my husband was expecting.......LOL

nail them to the inside of your wardrobe door. voila - instant sock holders (you have to ensure you socks are rolled into balls)

A really naft dish I had taken to the charity shop two weeks before. A friend of mine saw it and thought it would be nice for me to have a pair - never did have the heart to tell here it was the same one.

Worst ever given : a garden gnome (for my wife).

Worst received - Virgin Vouchers every year from several relatives. Why?, coz no thought & it really irks me to have to buy things I could get much cheaper online.
#18
One year, and much to the amusement of my girlfriend (now my wife), my MUM bought me some pump action toothpaste and a brown belt! That was it!

I hate brown belts.

Radio1 has an excellent callin on this.

Grandparents were the #1 culprit, buying the cheapest, nasiest, most useless **** anyone could ever want, more interested in seeing the poor relative they give it to pretend to be grateful than actually provide something they want ;)

It's revenge of grandparents and old relatives I think.

I'm getting old and seeing you in your youth disgusuts and depresses the hell out of me, therefore you MUST suffer and tolerate my awful existance until i pop off

Would be their thought bubble... ageist and not nice I know, but there u go :P

I get a bad one every year from my mother in law. All the free gifts she gets from bingo she sends to me and my husband. One year it was a teapot with no hole in the spout!
#25
Not for me but my great aunt sent my mother a bag of sugar and some tea bags for Christmas.

I got a pair of stockings once from my ex MIL - except there was only one stocking in the box.

Worse it was a pack of 5 pairs - she had split them and I only got one stocking!

My only thought was where is the orange?

After working away for a couple of weeks my husband returned home on my birthday (during the World Cup). He made out he'd forgotton, but when i returned back downstairs from my strop, there was a small toy bulldog dressed in a St Georges flag t shirt wrapped in Cellophane with white and red bows all over it. "Bet you thought i'd forgotton eh?" he says. I didn't have the heart to throw it back - might have hurt his feelings. He admitted a couple of weeks later he'd won it in a 50p raffle!!!
i've bought him a sat nav for xmas - How the hell can he get lost now??!!
