Some peopke are so nasty. Its as though they do it just to be nasty. Christmas shouldn't be a time to be rotten to each other, but lots of people do. I cant bring myself to be the same as my Dads GF, Im not like that. Best to rise above! Good job you have your Son and parents to spend your Christmas with xx

Best way to avoid arguments & nastiness at Christmas: Avoid your family.

Every Christmas my Dad's GF insists on buying for us. Rvery year it gets worse. One year I was given a pair of earings, sounds ok? Until I noticed the gunk on the backs, they were onviously second hand old dirty ones, probs belonging to her!!
One yr she gave me a Glade air freshener, another she gave my husband an xxxl jumper. He is a size medium!! I know she deliberatly does it. Thing is, she makes the wrapping look lovely so my Dad thinks he is dropping off a lovely gift. She takes the money off him to buy them. I bet she tells him shes spent a fortune but I know its all her old tat. She spells my name wrong in cards, told my Dad shes jelous of our relationship, avoids us as much as possible (thank God!). She gets on my nerves!!! Can you tell? lol!!!
So in answer to your question, anything off her is my worst present! (Id rather have nothing, its the 'digs' I cant stand!)

I can't bring myself to like that, the earrings part is so gross. But you definitely win! :)

I received a diary of the thing what calls herself mother. When I opened it. It was the yr before. Pretty typical for her. Best present ever. Getting to spend My dads last Christmas with him. ( only of it was Boxing Day as she said they wanted a quiet one. Then he moaned we didn't go and see him )

Maybe she bought the diary in the January sales.

Everybody loves a bargain! :)

you should have seen the pj's she gave me this birthday. There was a bright pink leopard print top from M&S that was hideous, then a bright red pair of leopard print fleece bottoms from Asda, I think she thought they matched! X)

This thread has made me feel so spoiled, the personal stereo, when I had already asked for a camera (I got both). The motor scooter when I was 16...Tiffany ring, best is this year. Christmas at home with my parents and son after 10 years in a failing marriage. No better gift. Worst? There are a few, cherry brandy liqueurs off the market when I was only 13. Probably just as bad, two years ago, the step-daughter deciding to purchase black swan on DVD. I had seen it at the cinema and loathed it. They knew, the other daughter had wanted to get the Kings Speech, she was oner-ruled. Their dad gave it to the woman he was having an affair with...to be honest the 'nothing' I ended up with was much preferred.

She should be in a circus with skills like that.

Not quite as dangerous as sword-swallowing, but you have a big smile on your face when bringing the objects back.

I get an extra day off this year; both Christmas Day and Boxing Day.

So spoiled.

However, both days are going to be spent 'round at my out-laws.
