I personally prefer Papa Johns but they're quite a bit more expensive than the other 2 but what do you guys and girls think?

I just cant get enough of the Dominoes Double Decadence pizza... Yummy
#2
Never had Papa John's, I prefer Domino's over Pizza Hut.
They all fail miserably to the pizza you get in NY though..... that's real pizza.
#3
Domino's for me - their Margherita pizzas are simply delicious.

Our local carry out does a kebab-meat pizza with a chili sauce base. Yum!!!

All this talk of food and it's not even lunchtime yet. I'm starving!!!
#4
Domino's veg-a-rama..yummy. And I just LOVE their garlic dip too!

What's that, is that like a stuffed base?

Has anyone tried that Chicago Town takeaway pizza...I had it with my friend the other night with a stuff crust pizza sauce and although it's apparantly been voted better than Pizza Hut and Dominos pizzas, I actually thought it was quite disappointing.

That may of been because I don't think it was cooked properly but it stated to be cooked for 25-30mins and 45 mins later, it still wasn't completely ready, so after becoming frustrated, we ate it anyway. :giggle:

I prefer Asda pizza to these brands - and for just over 3 quid you can't go wrong!

any local pizza place that has a wood fired oven or a stone oven at the very least

cant stand pizzas topped full of kaka......few quality ingredients
#18
Not a big fan of the big chains, as they tend to be very greasy, around my area anyway. We have a cracking one locally called Tuscanos and their Stonebake is just like you get in USA.
#19
Alfonse's

Parma ham, Gorgonzola, dolcetta, chorizo, salami, beef tomato, fresh basil, and balsamic.

Well guessing it depends on the franchise involved. Top bunch of guys at our one, sometimes I go in on a tuesday and have a 4 sets of toppings (each quarter). Even though the do sometime hide some chillies in mine for their amusement!

Can't disagree with that.

You should see the crap that Pizza Hut put on their pizza trays to stop their bases sticking - it comes in an aerosol can.:w00t:

Well, I think the USA has a far larger Italian population than any other country outside Italy - so kinda makes sense.

Never been disappointed with a pizza I got while over there.

None of them, would have to be the local take away with a wood fired oven, they are from Naples and make the perfect pizza for my tastes, wafer thin crust, fresh home made tom sauce, highest quality buffalo mozzarella, and good quality capers, anchovies and olives.

Cannot abide these thick crusted jobs with plastic cheese. Agree with the comment about Pizza in New york, although I found better in New jersey rather than Little Italy, More mobsters in NJ :)

How strange that there is so much comment about pizza in the US. Pizza originates in Italy !!
At least DKLS has mentioned Naples!! I cannnot stand capers, anchovies and olives though!
There aren't any pizza deliveries around here. I always have one when I have a holiday in Italy though.

Maybe because i/we have never been to Italy

Using your terms, football originated in England, but we're not very good at it!

so looks like the consensus is the us produces the best pizza

now chicago town pizzas dont do anything for me

italian all the way for me....napoli..... fresh

btw that aerosol is just oil in a can.....lmao

We had pizza hut last night and they'd changed the dough for the base, it didn't have the usual grease, but it was really thick and was like sludgy feeling when you ate it rather than crispy. Yes it was probably healthier than normal, but it tasted rubbish and we ended up leaving most it! I was gutted!

I have had some pretty poor pizze in Italy.

I actually didn't say anything about the quality of the pizze, just that it was strange that there was so much comment about the US.
Why would you characterise my comment as weird? I think that's rather rude of you.

On the subject of pizzas. Chicago Town used to do a pizza in a foil tray that had sort of butter in that baked into the base when you cooked it. Do they still do these as I haven't seen them in years?

ok then, what a strange thing to say...............weird/strange kinda similar words...........kinda hypocritical

the bold and underlined statement:- firstly the OP is about quality pizza and hence most people are commenting on good pizza experiences in the US, keeping in context of the thread. Either you don't understand about keeping in context or you deliberately made the statement to be interpreted that way so you could then deny its meaning, that's RATHER rude.
