get her one of those experience thingies where they stuff you in a big inflatable ball and shove you down a hill.....I wish I'd got that instead of an iron and ironing board from my parents.

My OH got a kettle from his parents for his 21st!:-(

As to the OP,you cannot go wrong with a classic piece of jewellry or a nice watch, something that she can treasure for years.

    Money.
My 21st birthday money went towards a deposit on my first house. :-D

i would agree with a deposit if you can afford it.

blimey, so many big spenders. A deposit on a house???? WTF? Hardly the best thing to be buying at the moment either.....

I would have thought a few hundred would be plenty for most normal people.

All this conspicuous consumption, totally unnecessary. Buy her a dog, give her some love.

Virgin do some excellent experience days for the 21st birthday. Remember you can use Tesco vouchers as well.

If worst comes to worst book a balloon ride, man what an experience

i don't know how your daughter feels about sharing her birthday with the son of God and all that, but my birthday is pretty close to Christmas as well, and I've always been given "joint"presents... which I was never a fan of growing up. But I guess for the big 21 she could have something really special. I would suggest something special she can keep. Every woman loves jewellery, but it sounds like you want to get something out of the ordinary...

I love the pet idea... my sister once bought me a kitten, but she knew I wanted one anyway.

For a cheaper extra gift, perhaps an album of your daughter - one picture for every year of her life. It would make a great piece of history. snapfish are pretty good for those http://www.snapfish.co.uk/photobookselect3/booksize=8x8. You can decorate/organise/create online. I've just had one made of my holiday in the Lakes, and it's really pretty.

Well it's not super special but I know if I ever make it rich I'll probably buy nearly one of everything from www.iwantoneofthose.com
