ok im puzzled what the heck is

what is microsoft exchange activesync!???

I've got the samsung jet s8000 and trying to configure it to send emails. I have a bt.yahoo email account so got the pop3 settings (whatever that means!) from here

but now when i try to send an email it pops up with "unable to start exchange activesync before setting connection"

i'm lost help.............!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Exchange is, as far as you're concerned, the mail sever.
In terms of sending mail from your samsung, It won't work with a pop3 mail setup. You'll need to set up mail on something like outlook or outlook express on your computer, which isn't a pop3 account.
Active sync is basically software that syncs your contacts etc from your computer to/from a pda/blackberry etc.

*sorry my brain is a bit fuzzy this evening so might not be explaining very well!

activesync is a sync problem for mostly windowsmobile devices. on vista, thr windows mobile device centre replaces activesync, but its the same tech, hence a lot of activesync mentions!

exchange is mail server software, and you dont need to worry about it in all probability.

Your phone will almost certainly handle pop3 separately 'on-device' - not part of activesync.

so wot do i do to get it all set up. i have a bt.yahoo account but cant seem to do it.

obviously change the settings for your bt yahoo settings.
