What the hot weather does to people.

Was dropping girlfriend off pulled over to the side of the road facing the wrong way (not illegal) it's not a busy road in any respect, a woman if you can call her that (butch with very short hair) pulled up in front of me facing towards me, indicating to go round me, at no point was there a car coming the other way to stop her going round me. She kept creeping further towards me until she was a foot from my bumper then pulled along side and started screaming abuse at me calling me an f****** t***er and that I can't drive, told her I was parked, she then drove off after calling me a tosser a further three times.

I should point out that I was sat there for about 2 minutes before she turned up and that yes I was parked badly, about 2 feet pointing out across the turning into our estate. But there are usually cars parked there anyway so you always have to go on the other side of the road to turn into the estate anyway. Would have said sorry but she didn't really give me a chance, thought she was a bit over the top.

I thought my estate was rough but my estimates of it have just fallen further.

Just needed to let off a bit of steam thanks.

I was doing a 3-point turn in a side road last week.

Was about to pull away from the final turn when this woman just turned into the road and drove right close up to me and started shouting that I am not allowed to turn around there, etc etc etc ....

Admittedly, I did go right off at her once she started but she just made me so mad, I seriously hate driving these days - especially living in London. No-one lets you out of your turning, they block your way, try and force their way in front of you ARGH!!!!!!!!! :x Rant finished

Some1 nudged my bike Friday night because he blasted his horn at another car doing a 3 point turn so I stopped and yelled at him on behalf of this women and he decided he should try and knock me off my bike. To say the least he scratched his car doing it cus I was almost stopped and he hit side of the wheel. It was a pretty warm night.

I love driving but it is a chore now for me, rather bike it to places now even tho sheffield is built on hills and a often a pain to get anywhere without losing a stone in sweat.

ohhh the amount of times i've been hit while biking :whistling: memories memories, even been known to cycle straight into the back of cars, even had a side on collision with a fast track tractor, if my back break had been working I would have been mince meat  Police came and told me off after I came out of hospital for being on the path and advised I take my speed on an off road track he does.

I don't think many cyclists help themselves - I know I don't. First thing in the morning when traffic is backing up, if I am coming down the hill while traffic is backing up I'll skip to the outside at about 30mph and near to the on coming traffic and will cut a red light much to the annoyance of the metal box users. I've hit cars to but not into back - only the odd wing mirror here and there :whistling:

I KNOW I will die in a traffic accident! Or chasing a taxi that just cut me up even though I do it at least 3 times in a 30 minute bike ride !

I always stop at reds now I've got a driving licence, my job depends on me keeping it or don't they give points for cycling offences? and would life insurance pay out if you skipped a red and was killed out right?

You can't get points on the bike - you can get arrested for dangerous road use tho. Like I say; I know what I do is dangerous but...

Take an example this morning on my way to work. I was in the outside lane on the way to work, all the lights was at red and it was stopped for pedestrians but there was none about - I skipped through so I don't have to stop and thus I am out of the way of every1.

Some guy then came up to me blasting his horn I was waiting at the next red light. He shouted at me for skipping the last red shaking his head and showing off that he had a horn and I didn't. Anyway, as he saw that when it was clear I was about to set off again so he blasted his horn again. So I stopped and asked what his problem was. It was me skipping lights his problem. So I waited until it was green, I can't set off as fast as cars and thus had to slow the whole traffic down while I get up to speed so the same guy blasted his horn again. I mean, what could I of done to please him?

If I got out of his way it upset him...
If I got in his way it upset him...

I admit I was wound up. He was wound up, we all can't get along for some reason. But in a car I am as calm as they come - not sure what roads and warm weather do to people but it ain't pretty.

edit; also meant to say that pedestrians have right of way on all roads but dual carriage and motor ways. Many bike users will be pedestrians as you don't get space to ride your bike

don't really do much city cycling but in Oxford where I don't live, they have space for cyclists to go to the front of the queue and hold up drivers on purpose. They then move in to the side of the road in front of the slow cyclists. Generally cyclists can get away from cars faster, if I get the wrong gear my bike shoots from under me into the air leaving me standing
