aahh man...feel for you, got made redundant 2 1/2 weeks ago, got a job today starting 16th, about a 1/3rd less but no weekends, gonna be weird I am 39 and have worked alternate saturdays since I was 18...good luck with the job hunting and with the Job Centre Plus....make sure you get everything you are due, severance pay, holiday pay, notice pay etc....and you can have savings of up to 16k without it affecting benefits.

meant your seven years redundancy pay, if you left immediately you will be due notice pay, ie if they could give you a months notice then they should pay you this in equivalent wages, also it isn't based on your basic pay but on an average of the last eight weeks....just make sure you get everything you are due, talk to Citizens Advice Bureau, speak to your mortgage co (if you have one) you may be able to have a payment holiday, you may also be able to stop paying your council tax as well, if you have kids tell the tax credits people....because it takes ages to get anything (usually six to eight weeks):x....it is not an experience I wish to go through again...couldn't have a payment holiday, and jobseekers allowance is a joke!

Just had to lay off 3 of my contractors and memories of some of my best friends being laid off a few years ago are still quite vivid in my mind!

Life goes on and as Agent_silver says, you will find other things, just dont expect it to be as well paid.

Thoughts are with you, good luck job hunting!
