Bought a satellite box which was said to be used for only a few weeks, which would leave 11 months of the subscription left on the box, having just asked the seller, theyve stated it should have 6 months or so left, not happy as could have paid £30 more and got one with the full 12 months. What would be the best thing to do as was clearly said in the auction only used for a few weeks and not a few months. do i have a chance to claim a refund through paypal, anyone been in similar situation. thanks

i know how it is mate had problems with people on ebay before i remember buying a remote control car and when it arrived it wouldn't start or work for that matter asked for a refund and the seller said il give you half back... i was like are you **** serious the **** thing doesnt work. some people are scumbags mate and lie hence the reason id rather use this site its usually clear what your getting in black and white on here which is awesome

yeah did try asking a few times for a box but was never much interest from sellers on here, there was a chap but never heard from him again and next thing you know hes talking about the box in misc and how he would put it in his bedroom (what a numpty). im not too fussy its just principle more then anything, if i sold you something with four wheels you shouldnt expect just a shell of a car, bit cheeky aswell as they had fairly good feedback and understanding of satellite boxes and subscriptions that come with them as had a look through their feedback, will see what they respond with. whenever i sell i make sure, buyer is at peace of mind 100% have even given people codes on here for xbox live first, without wanting money upfront. Will see how things turn out, hopefully wiill be alright, Got dish being put up today at dads so gonna get some kip and make sure im up for when their here, thanks mate nice one

i didn't mean try and get a refund in 6 months, i just meant deal with it in 6 months, eg: buy a new one or a subscription etc

But why should he wait and buy a new one, if its suppose to have 12 months?
#10
He only said it had been used for a few weeks, not when he used it for those few weeks though.
So I suppose he wasn't actually telling porkies

Tell the seller you are not happy, IMO i would request a partial refund first. If they decline then open a paypal case, they will find in your favour. Pretty simple, the only thing is though - they will require you to post back first at your cost, the seller may not refund you postage costs as this is not a requirement.

You could start a "not as described" claim with Paypal but, although Paypal usually favours the buyer, your case is not watertight. Did the seller state that there was 11 months left on the subscription or that it had been used for only a few weeks? He could argue that that meant he used it and then stored it for a few months and that the buyer wrongly interpreted that as meaning the subs would last another 11 months.

I'd suggest asking for a full or partial refund and if the seller doesn't agree try the Paypal claim.

Hope it works out for you

A Spiderbox by any chance?

I think you will be lucky to get anything back, reading between the lines you have assumed the fact that it had only been used for a couple of weeks to be from new when in fact as above he has had it for some time before fitting. The seller has therefore described it 'correctly' and you have not asked enough questions before buying, if the warranty was that important to you you should have found this out beofre bidding not after.

A Spiderbox by any chance?

Or similar for sure!

What was the box and price paid? What "sub" was supposed to be on it?

nothing to do with warranty, he listed it as new i should have said, but in description said it had been used for a few weeks, so in that sense i knew he had used part of the 12 month subscription, and i should have got atleast 11 months and a week if lucky. yeah its one of them krosus. will wait and see what their reply is, as ive not been sent the box out yet, won it on saturday and queried it the next day about how much was left on the box, but glad i did now, have asked for a refund of the whole amount or part refund if their still wantin to sell. which is fair tbh as isnt my fault items been used for longer then said. Will post back and see what they say

hey guv, its a spiderbox 5000 and i paid £67 which wasnt bad, as they had listed it new and only used for a few week in description, which saved me £20, sub wise i wouldnt know aslong as footy comes on wasnt too fussed.
