Shouldnt the thread title read "What isnt there to do in Amsterdam?"...

...smoke?....awesome.....you even get to try before you buy!
...drink? ...have a nice relaxing drink while you smoke....ahhh how those days have gone.....

get wasted and go on a boat tour around the canals in the evening.....awesome layin at the back head relaxed staring up at the sky with the mild weather and light rain free falling.....

The Dam....enuf said.....

window shopping around the neon lights after that relaxing drink and smoke....perfect end to a perfect evening.....

and after you've worked up that appetite then have some gourmet food before back to the hotel for a puff then bed.....

repeat the above as many times as needed and every day. :p

Thanks for your help everyone, i will definately be checking out the canal tour and will be trying every variation of beer there i can find, also there is the usual stuff i.e. red light district, "coffee shops", etc.

It will be an amazing trip!

It is very hard to keep to a schedule in Amsterdam. I went with friends from college for 5 days and we did not even manage to complete 1/3rd of the itinerary. Your best bet would be to have a general idea of the places you wish to visit but keep an open mind for all of the interesting locations you come across.

With reference to cannabis, I'm not sure if I am allowed to link to another forum but if you search lem localinet in Google you'll find a very useful resource.

Here's a map with the location of all the shops:

You can click each name to see the reviews.

Take it easy and I wish you an eventful trip. :p

The last watering hole is a great bar/coffee shop there's always a few live bands on and there bud and beer is spot on. Also imo the northern lights from the blue dolphin coffee shop is the best in the dam by far.

Don't go to east part of amsterdam there is a black getto area. I cycled through from the campsite and they were all staring at me like i was some alien. I'm white by the way. On the way back through at about 1 in the morning 2 guys tried calling me over as i was lost as someone had switched the signs over for directions to the campsite. I kept on cycling needless to say. After 8hrs finally made it back.

If you buy ready made reefers in the coffee shops they're about €4 each, but if you just buy bags to roll yourself it's cheaper. Make sure you try some shrooms when you're there - they sell truffles in the shops but if you ask around it's easy to get the proper stuff. Just don't forget your orange juice!

Ha if you do want more than the coffee shops etc do take the cheese and wine canal trip coz you can drink as much vino as you want and soak up with cheese!!
Volendam is a nice village to try and you can get a bus there quite quick or try get a boat over they also have coffee shops but cheaper bars......
Windmills are nice to look at oh and a tour of the heinekin factory if still open? The reason they used green bottles was to hide the fact that they used the water from canals which was a tad messy and cloudy but I have been told they don't use this water anymore haha!!!
