The Riviera is nice but if you want something cultural then take a trip in to Exeter.

It has a great Cathedral, underground passages and good shopping and food.

There is a zoo at Paignton if you wanted to visit that.

If you're going to Exeter and you have a car then take a leisurely drive along the coast road (B3199) to Shaldon, across the bridge to Teignmouth and then along the same B3199 to Dawlish.
From Dawlish take the A379 through to Exeter taking in Starcross and Powderham Castle.

Leave yourself plenty of time so that you can stop off when you fancy. There's some lovely scenery along those roads and quite a few interesting places.

Google Earth will show you the route and most of the beauty spots.

Enjoy :)

The Rose cottage tea garden in cockington is nice, in the summer they have a pianist playing outside which makes it really pleasant. Cockington also has a craft centre with a glass blower and blacksmith you can watch working and other crafting type things....it's a very pretty thatched village that is only a mile behind torquay seafront.

For the best cream tea you need to visit Topsham in Exeter and go to the Georgian Tea Rooms.

If you have a cream tea and dont enjoy it I will refund your bill!!
