Right the time as come (forced into it) to sell my little gem of a car ive got a renault clio 1.4i sport w reg 2000 model 58000 miles.... so whats it worth? looked on autotrader and believe it or not going for around the 2k mark trade so private i should get £1700 - £1800. Advertised for 2k, not selling for 2k and that's a trade price so overinflated to allow offers/px.

i think if you were to sell it private you may get £1000

its only worth what someone is willing to pay for it , and i personally would pay £1000 no more, considering what you can get these days with £2000 i don`t think its worth that much.
#12
ok try selling it then

Double LOL.
#24
Maybe worth £1200-£1500 if it had air-con, half leather interior, electric sunroof, electric mirrors
#25
It seems that you only want to hear what you want to hear.

So OK it is worth £2500.

(But of course you aint going to get anything like that )

The real value is around £1200 I would guestimate.

last one before i go to bed as you will prob guess im not into cars much as long as it gets me from a to z and havent got to spend a fortune im happy, so all these garages that sell these 2nd hand cars how the hell or should i say who the hell buys them off them??? if there changing double what the car is worth??
#29
think scrappage

when you trade your car generally they give you more than its worth to tempt you to buying new, they just sell it on in a auction for whatever it gets!

I gave a realistic guestimate of £1200 for your private sale Clio, Renault are not the most reliable or popular cars available.

I hope that you get more, but you may have to be patient to get it.
#32
IT would sell to a chav.

No have enough current problems with my car that I know are apparent.
#33
1200-1500 id say depending on condition and what extras you have

There are a couple of online sites that offer to buy your car (e.g. webuyanycar.com) - I reckon they are offering the lowest trade price for your vehicle - so when you find a nice shiny car you wanna buy pop it's details in at one of those sites (you'll need the registration and mileage) and you'll get a good idea of what the garage actually paid for it... In the same way you can use 'em to get a vague idea of how much the trade really think your old car is worth [Note: I do not recommend you sell a car to them - just use 'em for a free valuation]

Just tried that website.....

Thanks for valuing your car. Your valuation is £50* and webuyanycar.com would be delighted to buy your car straight away.

**** takers

Just noticed this as well.....

* Valuation is subject to inspection and contract and incorporates a contribution from the road fund licence refund. An administration fee applies on purchase of the vehicle. Based on a purchase price of £50, a fee of £9.99 including VAT would apply.

WTF!!!

They are a bunch of scammers - they are actually CarCraft and you have to take your car in to them where they then knock money off for every tiny scratch and blemish but are very happy to give you a 'great deal' on one of their vastly over-priced vehicles ;-)
But realistically if you took your car in to part-ex anything the dealer offers you over £50 you might have got as a straight cash discount; those guys aren't interested in anything too exotic (they'd probably offer £50 for a roller) or too old i.e. stuff that's hard to sell.

When I bought my car last year I put it's details through their website and they 'offered' about 1K (<20%) less than I was paying which reassured me I was being vastly overcharged.
