I remember a friend of mine slipping something she'd nicked from a shop into my hand and expecting me to just take it and walk out the store with it when we were both teens.

I did it as I couldnt have put it down and not shown her to be a thief, but when we got to a safe place, I was so mad, I gave her a total ********** and threw the thing she stole onto some train tracks so she didn't get them anyway. Told her never to involve me in that crap again or anything like it.

I'd never shop someone in but I wouldn't support them either.

We're all responsible for our own selves.

Offer them 50% of it's value.

I was in Matalan today, a young lass pushing a buggy came round the corner, the thing that made me look at her, was she had the most horrendous stretch marks i have EVER seen, they were hanging out the bottom off her top! Anyway she was with her mam, baby in buggy, and little girl. She removed her coat, and grabbed some trousers, with her back to me i knew exactly what she was going to do, so i coughed (lol) she then laughed and said "mam, i am trying to put brooklyns socks on"!!!...how random, anyway i walk off watching her, she got her coat, grabbed the rail off trousers and put them in a large shopping bag on the back of the buggy, then draped the coat over.
Normally i would be like .......oooooohhh shes shoplifting, today i thought sack it, if shes low enough to have her own mother has a look out, and her kids as deterrents then what else was she capable of? Not to judge a book by its cover, but just looking at her was enough to think....trampy thief!

Offer to be their agent for the "worlds strongest person" competition . . . shops weigh loads, they'd have to be a frontrunner . . . .

someone nicked a tv once where I work....funny thing was when we watched it on the camera the cheeky sod had gone and got a stool to stand on to reach it off the shelf :w00t:

Well I wait for them to walk out the shop then arrest them....but I've applied to be a copper so it's what I enjoy doing. Get a massive adrenaline kick out of it.

Done this 4 times now all from Tesco stores, 3 times while I was working for them but I have Tesco shares so it's in my interest to nab them

I was in Pets at home once, a fella came in grabbed the step ladders, climbed to the top shelf and got a 60l biorb fishtank, removed the light out of it and put it in his pocket, he carried on walking around the store. So i legged it to the car, and rang the store and described him, they caught him coming out....happy days :)

I used to work in a shop & used to see people stealing all the time, I hated my arrogant rat for a manager & he gets a bonus dependent on stock levels so I never said a word & was tempted to help them fill their bags :)
I don't agree with stealing but when its a big shop or a large company who cares as they have more money than they need anyway.

When I think of shoplifters I always think of the mum in Muriels Wedding... then I get sad that she died and suffered so much sadness.

I know it's not real life - but thats what this post has reminded me of!

I would do nothing, let them get on with it, they have their reasons - depends what they were lifting, if it was something I was intending on buying, I'd probably follow them out and make an offer:thumbsup:

Why not just pay the few extra pounds, and go to bed with a guilt free mind :)

Someone left a £5 note in the bottom of the self service checkout at a Tesco store, I handed it in at the checkout. I'm too honest for my own good, so no I wouldn't.
