Hi,

My mum wants to buy a dishwasher and tumble dryer in the new year. Now i know generally the more expensive the better but we've never had any of these machines before so would just like to know your recommendations. I'm looking for something mid range nothing expensive but nothing that that doesn't work well or falls apart after a year either!

Thanks

we have had a bosch dishwasher for the last 9 years (same one) and it has never been a problem

As regards the dishwasher imo, just buy any cheap brand, no point spending loads on these they will perform there function well I think, not sure about the tumble dryer though. I have a beko dishwasher full size, paid extra 70 pounds for extended warranty, never had a problem for over 2 years now, shouldnt have bothered. in my opinion I ll go for a £150 one next time.

I couldn't disagree morte with the last post.Don't buy a cheap tumble dryer,,, they all tend to be noisy and c catergory on economy.

I have just got rid of a brand new Indesit,,, it was absolute crap, noisy, didn't dry properly, door catch broke within 2 months... I have just bough a superb machine from John Lewis (own brand) which I believe are made in Germany. it's brilliant, you can hardly hear it at all when its on.Lots of drying options, cupbourd dry, very dry , or iron dry 5 year warranty,, £56.

I forgot to mention that I fully agree with the comment on Bosch dishwashers,,,, superb.

You did ask for the best. Miele. End of discussion.

thanks for the help guys, looks like bosch for the dishwasher and possibly john lewis for the dryer. Any idea about model numbers though?

Deek72 i know i said the best and i have heard about miele but they tend to be very expensive dont they, or would the basic model do?

Even the cheaper models are quality. Plus keep your eye out for special offers of free extended 5/10 yr warranties.

Only one brand to go for, if you have the room to accommodate them..... Maytag, as a second best go German.

just not hoover lol-what a joke. I had a white knight dryer for 10 years used daily-bought a super large hoover and i have lost count of replacements ive had and it makes a noise like you never heard(but just out of warranty now)

i would go either zanussi or bosch, we have had our zanussi dishwasher 8 yrs now and the tumble dryer for about 9 years or more and no probs with either, the washing machine we have is bosch but only just replaced the zanussi that broke couple of weeks ago.

try bennetts online at the mo

http://www.bennettsonline.co.uk/household/dishwashers/standard-dishwashers/Bosch-SGS43T92GB-09030969

is a possible looks a good model and they have money off all their home appliances at the mo,

I only offered advice on the dishwasher and not the dryer...

I've had my Indesit dishwasher for 15 years, and it's still going. Basic model.

More expensive isn't always better - more expensive sometimes just means more features, which means more stuff that can go wrong. Not that cheap is necessarily better, either, it just depends on the brand.

with the Bosch dishwasher just go for a basic model, the workings of them all are identical it is just the wash options that change , and in all the years i have used mine i have only realty used the basic wash
