If you're an o2 customer, else £12.50 for an upto 8Mb link.
I am a Be'er, upto 24Mb download and 1.3Mb upload and it is working out at 17Mb down 1.1Mb up for £18/month
Not the cheapest but for me and other's it is worth it.
I have xbox live and have no issues, aside from times with Japanese/Chinese gamers and the occasional US one's, but you can see the ping on most games before you play them and decide if the lag is worth it

Edit: Check out Sam Knows to see what's available where you live.......

@Shaun, noticed you never replied about the fans of football in Manchester thread lol

As far as I know O2 are the only cheap ISP that doesn't enforce any limitations, if you can't get them then you're going to have to pay a lot more (£50+ a month) or compromise on the unlimited part or the speed.

I'm not sure what you mean, can you link to where it says that?
#18
I'm with talktalk - It's free, I've had no issues and currently running at 8m/b.
#19
Sky, then O2/BeThere.

Depends what you are looking for and whats available.

However you should always do a comparison over at www.thinkbroadband.com

Here is a comparison of Be Unlimited, O2, Freedom2Surf and Tiscali

http://www.thinkbroadband.com/isp/compare.html?commit=Compare&isp_4=1&isp_14=1&isp_86=1&isp_23=1

tiscali being the worst.

The results of thinkbroandband.com are by their users, so are not just industry stats.

Personally I use Freedom2Surf, they are not the cheapest but their support desk is 2nd to none.

O2 seems the best

O2 seems the best

I use Be (owned by o2) and I agree.
#23
Thanks for asking this question OP as I was about to do the same

Does anyone know how long after you sign up for broadband do they connect you?
#24
If LLU isn't available in your area then you can pretty much kiss goodbye to any notion of unlimited downloading at a reasonable price.

Another vote for Be / O2
