Sage is the 'best', but not necessarily the cheapest or easiest.

I use easy cash manager.. I only have a small business. It is free to download and really easy to use. Adds up your incomes and expenses as you go along.
Google it.

sage probably is the best but it can be hard work - I would maybe just use excel or something at the moment cause im assuming that you need to be finished and submitted by 31st Jan?

One thing to take into account is whether you will need some 'external' accountant to audit your figures etc at any point.
As far as I am aware, it might be cheaper for you to use some other non-sage software when you originally buy the software, but if it is then unable to create files that can be opened in Sage, your external accountant may charge you more to go over your books as it is more hassle for them.

I use to be a Business Development manager at the bank with the big blue bird. They have some pretty good software called Business Manager, you have a choice out of Quickbooks or sage. My personal preference is quickbooks as its cheaper and much easier to use. It also does your VAT 100 report.

Its a subscription package, if you want to know more PM me.

Thanks

Agreed, we use to use sage at my old company and its the best by far, also is a accounting standard. However, is not cheap, and takes a bit to get to grips with especially setting it up for the first time how you want it all.

been using both Quickbooks and Sage for many years. Sage is now extremely bloated if you need anything other than basic (Sage Instant).

Quickbooks is as easy to use as Sage (both require a certain amount of learning), and Sage will produce better information for your accountant if you use one.

Would personally go for Quickbooks if your filing your own returns.
