lol why the hell would i want to do that

I hate these too. I find the longer one gets caught up in my scarf or collar. Always buy the equal length ones now.

I hate that too, I use mine when running and the right wire pops up out of my top and gets in the way

Oh dear...

The longer cable should be worn around the back of the neck, then the earphones inserted. This way, if either of them fall out of the ear, they simply hang down the front (supported by the neck), rather than dropping to waist height and pulling the other one out too. Hard to describe in words, so try it! :)

i got earphones like this with my new phone..last week..i spent ages trying to work out if id somehow pulled one of the wires ..lmao...never knew it was to wrap round neck..makes sense tho
#12
also if the wire hung in front of you like in the 80s, you were forever getting it caught in places and door handles

With a standard headphone lead where the cable splits into two equal lengths to go to the ear pieces, when in use the cable will pull straight down which means an earpiece is more likely to drop out and additionally take the other earpiece out as well. With the mismatched lengths one section of the cable goes over the shoulder and round the neck which means it's no longer being pulled straight down meaning it's less likely for the earpieces to drop out and fall to the ground. I find in practice it works well.

My sony mp3 player has phones like this.......I rang sony as I thought they were faulty, one long one short and the mp3 hangs around my chest???

They advised me on the way to wear them ie behind the neck and told me that the mp3 is designed to sit in the left breast pocket...........I'm a woman with a pink mp3 FFS.........we don't have left breast pockets in our clothes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Obviously designed by blokes..............pah!!!:whistling:

I've had pairs like this for years, once you start using them, you will come to realise that if one falls out of your ears, because of the way they are made they get caught and hang down, rather than completely falling of. I've always thought it was a nifty little addition.
