Hong Kong & Sri Lanka are my favourites
Hong Kong I loved the hustle & bustle followed by a stay at Disneyland resort on the quieter Lantau Island.
Best was East meeting west. Worst was the length of time before daytrips actually started from where we were based.
Sri Lanka the journey from Colombo airport to Bentota southern beaches was very draining so the worst part but the week spent there was fantastic. Had a good trip to the elephant orphanage at Kandy but the worst part is having several Mahoots in the photo (6 of them) all wanting a tip.
Travelling East you see poverty but that is also apparent in the Caribbean (another favourite)
I love Vegas & The Grand Canyon. I love Florida too.

I would love to travel a bit further a field, but so far europe is as far as I have got. I really hate flying, even after a least 40 flights its still not got any better. My prob is I cant get out of my seat without going dizzy and feeling sick. Any help or advice greatly received (sensible advice only lol)

I feel for you too, its a really nasty feeling, I would love to venture a bit further but I think the fear before I go is probably worse than the fear I feel on the plane. As soon as I book my hols and know that Im going to be flying everytime I see a plane in the sky my stomach churns. Nice to know Im not alone :)

We went there on our honeymoon nearly 8 years ago & said we'd go back within the next couple of years, but due to having kids we haven't had the chance yet :-(
fab beaches, sun, warm rain, clear blue sea, great pool with bar in it so drinking cocktails in the pool all day long , great shops & nightlife.....
i feel miserable now :-( i wanna go back...

Favourite is Cyprus:-

Best bits are the food, people, climate and empty roads

Worst bits are the flight prices have doubled in just a few years and of course ayai napa (what a dump!).

Where are you staying emasu?.. There's a fair distance between Protaras and Polis.. I've not been over to the west of the island only to Keryneia in the north and Nicosia.. Although I said the I wasn't impressed with the north of the island I would still recommend a visit just to see the likes of Famagusta close up and all the abandoned hotels with bits blasted out of them and bullet marks..It must of been awful for the folks there..... Although Keryneia was a pleasant resort on the eye I just didn't enjoy the consent pestering trying to get me either into a shop or a restaurant.. I suppose that's the Turkish way..
If you haven't done it before it is a nice drive along the green line from Nicosia to Deryneia (a very good viewing point looking out to Famagusta here and a bit of a museum) and then down to Paralimni and onto Protaras..
Have a great time emasu... I'm hoping to go back next year..

The place I didn't enjoy was Menorca...

I don't mind the longer flights if the holidays is going to be better.. I have been to Lanzarote a few times and Tenerife once.. Would I be better of sticking with these or try one of the others.. I've been told that Fuerteventura is very quiet and boring and Grand Canaria tacky...

Have you been to either of the two I haven't as I am tempted to see for myself.. Flights do seem to be more expensive to Fuer and GC....

You have been told right.

Fuerte is very very windy hence they have world windsurfing events there. I wouldnt go back.

gran Canaria was ok especially maspalomas but I wouldnt go back.

tenerife is ok but very commercial and really bad hassle from street sellers especially Los christianos/playa de las americas. ok for 18-30 crowd.

love lanzarote, especially puerto del carmen. no high rise but starting to become a little too commercial but great small towns around it. Didnt like playa blanca (more like playa villa as very very urban and reminded me of milton keynes lol).

We were doing LOTS of hard work!!!:whistling: (It was our honeymoon too!!!)

Only had 3 trips out. One to Xcaret, one to Chichen Itza and the other to Tulum. All good trips. Plus 4 scuba dives.

Wasn't overly impressed overall though. Supposed to be 4* all inclusive and did cost a small fortune. But when you had a choice of beer to drink that consisted of one (and was called 2X) on draft and served in plastic beakers, it kind of took the edge off it. I love Sol and Corona Beer - and when they said "local", thats what I was expecting. Food was similarly naff. Annoyingily the hotel we tried to book (and was about £300 cheaper) was the dogs... we just missed out!

So in our second week, we ended up paying out by ignoring the hotel and just enjoying the nightlife in Cancun.

The Hotel we got moved to, featured on a Holiday program. It was less than complimentary!

Did you go to Senor Frogs? a yard of cocktails for about £2.50
we stayed at the Toucancun, it was great we got a free room upgrade, had a jacuzzi on our balcony & rosepetals everywhere in the shape of hearts (bed, toilet, shower) also towels everywhere made in to swans  loved the banana daiquiris that carlos made at the pool bar
we got a good deal on it as i worked for natwest in london & the travel agents down the road gave us discounts so worked ou about £1800 for the both of us for 2 weeks all inclusive
