I opened my sons camera to find one of the batteries had leaked & have since changed them but the camera is not working. Is there anything I can do? I mean could the battery leaking have caused the camera to pack up alone or could it possibly be something else? Its one of them Vtech kiddie cameras.
Rep for any help x

try to clean the battery contacts with a nail file or emery cloth

yes, leaking batteries would stop new ones from working

Thanks I thought as much :( Is there any way that you (or anybody else) know of to fix it?

I thought this was gonna be about some ITV4 documentary along the lines of 'When things go bad' or 'When dogs attack'

I cant get to the bottom contacts as they are deep into the camera, the top ones aren't too bad either. From what I can see there is only a spring on one side where the battery leaked (at the bottom)

The ones I can see are a little rusty, this is the bit that unscrews to change the batteries. The spring deep in the camera looks a bit rusty but I cant get to it....

Ive had trouble with batteries quite often with all the batteries toys get through. I wasn't too chuffed to realise that TMX Elmo had completed corroded away when I opened the battery compartment up. I have one tip though and that is to scrunch up a little piece of tin foil where the battery touches the connecters inside that might be all it needs and has helped me in the past.
