When do Dell charge?

I'm going to buy my Vostro tomorrow, although money's in kind-of an iffy situation at the moment. I can afford if they charge my account tomorrow, but a few weeks down the line maybe not, as I'm planning another fairly big purchase soon. So, when do Dell normally charge? When the order's taken, or when the system gets dispatched?

They will check for the money t he moment you press the button to process, they may not charge you straight away, do you know how it works??? (sorry if you do)
Dell will ask the bank if the money is available, it will be reserved for them for 5 days....if the transaction is completed immediately (usually when they are ready to dispatch) it will hit your account/card in 3 working days, if not Dell can still take the money up to a year after as they have already had the promise of it from the bank (the authorisation). So if they delay they may take the money when it is not there so you will then go over your limit........do it today!!

Superb, thanks verr much. Eeeh, and to think - in 8 minutes time, I'll be paid. I should go to bed soon, I have a hard day's haggling ahead of me.

The explanation above is pretty much spot on I believe, I had trouble with Dell when they accidentally put a double order through so when I want to use my account my available balance was very low despite the total in the account looking fine. I contacted the bank and they told me there were pending transactons, one was cancelled and the money went through a couple of days later.
