my elderly neighbours complain about anything and everything as if they have nothing better to do with their time, how can i rest assured that when im old and grey i wont become a grouch? :o(

I've always been polite to them, said hello and asked how they are etc given them eggs, sent a xmas card,i think now im going to give up and just ignore them

In one way i feel sorry for them,it must be awful finding the next thing to grumble about
it puts me off getting old,in fact im getting quote worried about getting old lol

I have lived here nearly 6 year's and used to care about my neighbour's and the local area.

Now I know that most of them are a nightmare and that the councillors get voted in to look after the area.

People mostly equal problems.

but the fact that you are complaining about them complaining means you are well on the way to being old and grumpy:whistling:

Becoming a grouch is something you just cannot stop. As you get older it just happens. As does watching out of the window to see what people are up to. I have an old mate who has just started to do this, scary.

This is a song about my close:-

Who lives in a house like this x2

In number 69 there lives a transvestite
He's a man by day, but he's a woman at night
There's a man in number 4 who swears
He's Saddam Hussein
Says he's on a chore to start the
Third world war

Oh if you find the time
Please come and stay a while
In my beautiful neighbourhood

In 110 they haven't paid the rent
So there goes the TV with the repo men
In 999 they make a living from crime
The house is always empty
Cos they're all doing time

Chorus
My neighbourhood
My my my beautiful neighbourhood
My neighbourhood
My my my beautiful neighbourhood

Who lives in a house like this x2

In number 18 there lives a big butch queen
He's bigger than Tyson and he's twice as mean
In 666 there lives a Mr Miller
He's our local vicar and a serial killer

Chorus
My neighbourhood
My my my beautiful neighbourhood
My neighbourhood
My my my beautiful neighbourhood

Who lives in a house like this x2

Oh they want to knock us down
Cos they think we are scum
But we will all be waiting
When the bulldozers come

In a neighbourhood like this
You know it's hard to survive
So you better come prepared
Cos they won't take us alive

Chorus
My neighbourhood
My my my beautiful neighbourhood
My neighbourhood
My my my beautiful neighbourhood

Who lives in a house like this x2

Forgive me if I'm wrong here OP, but did you not have some issues with chav neighbours not that long ago. You were constantly starting threads about how bad the place was etc.

If I were you I wouldn't be too quick to start complaining about these elderly neighbours. You didn't like it when the shoe was on the other foot not that long ago. What you are saying now, maybe could have been what others were saying about you in the past.

youre not wrong i had problems with a group of teenage kids and as a result moved out to a rural area and am awaiting the court date in feb, restraining orders didnt stop the lil wotsit and things got that bad we were hounded out of our home, the majority purely racial as my husband isnt white :x

moving here was a new start and ive tried so hard to get on with the neighbours, its a slower way of life but a very nice one too but no matter what i do they seem to complain about something,im not sure if its because its a village and we are the newcomers, neighbours the other side have told us today that the couple next to us do nothing but complain about anything and everything they seem fit to,its a shame as id really like to of got along with them but feel its time to give up

Who lived in the house before you arrived?

Maybe they have experienced really bad neighbours in the past and are wary.

Glad you have finally moved and hope this year will be better

a single old lady for 35 years! she passed away sadly so i know theyre not used to noise, and to try and ease it ive knocked when decorating etc to pre warn them in advance that there will be some noise, the day we were moving in i also knocked and prewarned them

i dont know if its the fact that theyre so used to living the quiet life that a family moving in next door seems like the family from hell have landed upon them :(

They are old. Therefore grouchy.
There is nothing you can do.
Hopefully you will live to an age where it will happen to you.

Just don't talk to them. I don't think you should get too friendly with them anyway.

One less thing to worry about in your life :)
