Depends on your neighbours, I'd go mad too if you were drilling walls at this time of night, espeicially if they have kids

All about a little common sense really. If your neighbours are elderly or have children or what not.

Sorry, just nice to be able to call someone a snob on here rather than being called one myself. X)

Good for you. But your wrong. You don't have me. I'm probably about 95% of a woman's needs.

Trying to finish the bathroom, that just happens to share a wall with the bank next door? In which case, night time is the best time (but use rags to muffle the drill) :p

Bank job ? nice cover story !

Had it from the people next door, and the council said noise is noise it don't matter what time of day it is if it is going on day in day out. there is no time of day/night on it, thats why I could not take them to court over it, if you are improving your home there is not much the other people can do about it, this is the thing that got to me it looked like they could do what liked with nothing being done about it.

No, he's drilling a hole to hide his hard drive, from his previous thread ;)
#32
lol where do you live? I've got someone on my fb moaning about people drilling!
If they've got kids, or you know they are up early for work, then a bit of common sense really. Its nearly the weekend, do it then!

Not saying where I live :p do they have a little girl?

I'm working the weekend !

Despite what many on here have done, picking arbitrary numbers for cut off time, there's nothing prescriptive in terms of a cut-off time for such works.

However, if your neighbour made a complaint about the noise, an Officer from the Council visited and determined the noise was unreasonable, or measured it and found the noise you were producing was excessive, they could serve you with a Notice to require you to stop.
#35
OP - look at it logically - put yourself in a neighbours shoes/slippers...how happy would you be if you had young children, were poorly, shift worker or had even gone to bed yourself - and your neighbour started drilling next door?? Another alternative would have been to call and ask them if it was okay.

my neighbours are really quiet...i live next to a cemetery! oO
