The signals I'm getting are that Theresa May won't be staying at number 10 for much longer..

That could be a week or a couple of months, but it's looking like it's fait accompli.

So anyone want to predict the future..

What day will May resign or be ousted as PM.

If only there was a wheat field outside downing street, she would run away.

You cannot petition against democracy. When will the remainers put the dummy back in?

I'd say please be soon but they'll just replace her with someone equally despicable. Wish Ken Clark would get it mind.

hopefully not for a long time, we need her to get a good deal

When her IT staff try and update her with the Windows 10 Creators update she might crash and burn so that might be a good time to put her out to pasture.

This is politics, not kindergarten, she won and everyone is acting like she got no seats and labour won. she got the most seats, most votes, I'm not surprised she got less than David Cameron because there is so much going on right now.

It doesn't matter that she got more seats and 'won' as you put it. She had a majority in parliament yet she chose to call an election despite there being no need to do so. She made the election all about her being 'strong and stable' and specifically asked the British people to give her a mandate by increasing her majority. The reality of politics is that she is now a lame-duck and it is only a matter of time before the ruthless Conservative machine replaces her.

Depends, May has a monumental task of rebuilding her reputation and confidence with the electorate and party supporters. If she does then Theresa May will last the whole of the parliament, doubtful but possible. At present there is no clear leader, with the charisma, intelligence, and shrewdness to challenge her except maybe Amber Rudd who has shown promise and diligence throughout the electoral campaign. So in all likelihood once the Brexit negotiations are completed, in 2 years* another general election will be called, if there a positive deal or she'll be replaced by one of the front runners like Boris Johnson.

*Brexit although will take 18 months to finalise with an extra six months for all the EU countries to ratify the deal. This period could be extended if negotiations are close to be successful.

Depose the incompetent woman and put ruth davidson as the prime minister

The fact that she wasted £137million on an election we didn't have to have won't have helped her. Funny how she seemed to find one of those 'magic money trees' for that...

She's made Jeremy Hunt her Health Secretary again just now.

David Gauke as Work and Pensions Secretary too. A man who voted to bring hardship to those most vulnerable in society.

Woman is mad and has learned absolutely nothing. She needs to go. Couldn't make this up. X)

What's the cost of democracy, if an election is called costs shouldn't be the reason we don't have elections people died to give us that privilege.

If we don't have the money then why not make a law to stop freebies being promised that way we probably wouldn't have another election by the end of November anyway.

If she has not gone of her own accord within a month then the Conservatives will force her to resign by October.

Waiting for a DUP member to be Minister for Women and Equalities or Secretary of State for Communities and Local Government

Theresa May is a joke.

She will have no respect from anyone in europe when she tries to break a deal for brexit. She is an embarassment to the uk.

She personally called an unnecessary election in which her party lost their majority and are forced to do deals with a small party with dubious opinions on basic things such as gay rights and women’s’ rights.
She ran on a manifesto on which she back peddled and even refused to acknowledge that, refused to engage in public debates and talked with the media in a robotic way and churned out trite sound bites rather than answer questions.
Her own party are not supporting her in public which says a lot as she’s damaged goods now.

I'm not complaining about the cost of elections, I'm complaining about the money she wasted on an unnecessary election. She had a perfectly sustainable majority which would have easily seen her through to 2020.

Chances are she'll announce she's stepping down within a week and we'll have another General election once the Tories get their act together and decide on Boris in mid August, that's assuming they intend on governing. New Tory leader = another General Election. I half expect them to go away and lick their wounds for a few years as another GE in a few months time will hammer them even more.

Possibly, during a time of austerity we'll have spent £260ish Million on *totally unnecessary* elections in the space of six months.

Is there a breakdown in costs for that hefty bill?

So we are led to believe Boris Johnson is the most capable , talented and best equipped person in the Con party .. The man is a bumbling Buffoon who wasn't fit to stand in the leadership contest just a year ago. The party seen him as a liability and Gove declared him "not fit".. And he is now the guy to lead us out of the EU and the Tories best hope . Incredible.

I know.
The last thing we need is a PM who cant agree on brexit with his own party members.

I honesty cant see BoJo working as leader and the same can be said for all the other contenders, one of whom is 300 votes away of losing her seat. The Tory party is totally devastated by this election and its going to take someone special to sort them out. I suspect if or when we get another election later this year Labour will be the largest party or win outright and the Conservatives will be out of power for the best part of a decade. In their current state, even with a new leader I very much doubt they'll be in a position to win another election (or return the highest number of seats) this year.
