Where can I complain about a hotel in London?

Hi, I hope someone will be able to help.

I've stayed at a London Hotel ( very near to Gloucester tube)last week. The hotel was 4 star but if you ask me I wouldnt give them even 2 stars. The bed wasnt a proper bed, it was a fold up bed and the duvet cover and bed sheet was stained and was torn. Between next room and my room there was a partician wall made from wood. And I could hear next doors tv and him talking on the phone as he was sitting next to me.

The room was smelt of damp. I called the reception but no one was there. Bar tender answered the phone and came to the room and he was also suprised to see the state of the room. There was no manager, no one to speak to and we coulndt asked our money back because we got the hotel from the airport and paid in cash but we do have an invoice. I've taking photos of the room so I can prove whatever I said above.

Now, I want to complain so called 4 start hotel but I dont know where to send my complain letter.

If any of you can help that would be great.

Thanks in advance,
Mavi

Yeah, HUKD would be the best place to seek advice as to where to send your complaint, considering the fact that we don't know what hotel it is.

Whatever you do, don't go onto the said hotels website, get the number and call them to ask. oO

You should have posted this in the "Misc" section.

You complain to the hotel bizarrely! Start with the manager, after that try head office if its a chain.
#11
Google. Search for the hotel in maps and then add your comment.

Is the hotel a chain? Contact head office if so? If not, phone the hotel again and ask when the manager is next in? Leave your details and ask for a call back or response within a certain amount of time, if they don't reply ring again.

Ideally the Queen, but I'd start at the Prime Minister and work my way up.

I'll just send a link to this thread to Parliament.

type the name of the hotel in google. and you will find the address, write a letter to this marked FAO The manager, or see if their name is listed on website. If it is a chain then head office?

Seriously though did you not know how to do this?

Manc80, I've filled a complain form when i was in the hotel but all I've got was an email apologising and offering a reduced rate for next time if I stay at their hotel that's all! I thougth there are places that I can send my complain letter and they would inspect the hotel or something.

I can see that the majority of your brain power must be used up by breathing. Did you manage to get yourself dressed this morning?
Where do you think you would complain to, really?
#23
If my post bothering you that much use your brain (if there is any) to ignore it! Simple!

Are you serious? You right a letter of complaint and expect the hotel to get investigated? You having a laugh?
#26
I think they need more than 1 complaint before they investigate anything!
What are you hoping to achieve from this complaint?

They've offered you a reduced rate for next time, what else do you want?
#27
Of course! I have high standarts unlike some people! And I have every right to expect this as I was the one paid for £200 for an unpleasent stay!

Then you are deluded.
You take up the matter with the hotel and if you don't get a reasonable answer, you go higher until you do.
Sounds like this has already been resolved as they've offered you a discount if you care to visit them again. What exactly do you want from them?

Get real.
#31
just write back to them and tell them you are not happy with what you have been offered as compensation. is it a chain? what is the hotel called?

Did you fall to the floor and throw a hissy fit at the hotel as well? "I want, I want, I want".

Go somewhere else nicer next time. End of.

You don't book hotels that you don't know from the airport.
#34
The hotel called Grange Strathmore Hotel. I'm complaining because I dont want them to get away with it by just offering a reduced rate. I dont want a reduce rate as I wouldnt stay there again anyway. I want them to be inspected and if necessary remove their 4 starts so that they can improve their rooms and not to sell 2 stars rooms as 4stars.

Well sometimes you dont have choice! Especially, you missed your flight and need a place to stay! If you dont offer help I would be gratefull if you could just keep quite!

Judging by the TripAdvisor comments, you're in the minority. Most think it's an excellent hotel.

oO There are far more average to terrible reviews than good to excellent!

You check before you book and you don't miss your flight.

Not very good at this travelling thing are you. :p

If I were you , Mavi, and I wanted to do something more than take steps to have more compensation, I would find out which classification system/awarding body has allocated 4* to the place and have a correspondence with them.
Also write a review on tripadvisor.
Make sure the hotel knows exactly what you are doing, by continuing to correspond with them, giving updates on your campaign.
