I would like to certify some copies of documents but have been told it will cost at least £5 per copy, does anyone know if I can have this done for free anywhere?

Thanks

You could try your local post office. I was successful in getting my post master to certify some documents for me a short while ago. Some will charge, it depends, but you can only ask.

Know any accountants, civil servants ?

Your post office will do it for free if you know your postmaster.

If not, they may charge you £6.85 for up to 3 documents.

Your countersignatory should be a professional person or a person of good standing in the community. The list that follows gives examples of the type of person that would be suitable. If you are not sure who to ask you can call the IPS Passport Adviceline on 0300 222 0000.

Thank you, I have 5 copies and don`t want to pay £5 per copy, but will definitly try the post office if they`ll do 3 for the £6.85 , Ithink thats reasonable.

Do you have a drawing office or maybe a finance/admin department where you work? They may well have a "Certified Copy" stamp and a handy photocpoier aznd a manager prepared to sign it off.

From moneysavingexpert.com:
No point in spending £7. Some police stations will do it for free (although some decline). Many solicitors only charge £5. Banks will often refuse unless it is for a part of their company.
