Looks like the Sun newspaper has decided today that he is English.

Fail.

Too much time on your hands...
#4
Lol @ The Sun.
#5
he supported every team that England played...yep...he's Scottish
#6
it doesn''t state he is English anywhere, it states that the 'Home Counties tennis maestro' lifted Englands sporting gloom..... then goes on to say that he is a brit further down....

As if to say that this 'brit' is a remedy for englands world cup exit..... yeah right

The only fail here is your lack of attention to detail..

Not a story - everyone knows a Scot with money will move. It's natural, it's understandable.

The Surrey - based Brit

OP fail.

OP fail.

OP Fail?!

The story read's

"HOME Counties tennis maestro Andy Murray lifted England's sporting gloom last night as he stormed into the Wimbledon semi-finals.
Days after the nation's footballers crashed disastrously out of the World Cup, the Surrey-based Brit smashed his way to a mouth-watering last-four showdown with World Number One Rafael Nadal."

First part - Home Counties Tennis Maestro. He's Scottish, he wasnt born in the Home Counties.

Englands Sporting Gloom - Look, Im fine with the newspapers reporting that he is British, because he is. But Englands Sporting Gloom?

Nations Footballers - No, thats England, not the British Football Team (since one doesnt exist - unless im mistaken?). Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales werent there which was fair enough and England had a storming qualification but fell at the second hurdle.

Surrey Based - Yes. The Sun reports that as correct. So why spout the rest of the crap in that story?

Sick to death of the crap that the English Media spouts out. I only saw that story because someone else directed me towards it. The sad thing is every single year Andy Murray is labelled as British, then as soon as he loses, he's classed as a Scot. I will come back to this post if Murray loses this year and guarantee the Sun will of posted that he is Scottish (if he has lost). 100% Guaranteed.

And before anyone brings up the story about Murray and how he wasnt supporting England, its been said about a million times that the story was taken out of context and it was in the middle of a wind up with Tim Henman.

He trains and lives in Surrey!

Got a fiver on Djokovic when he was 25/1 so hope Murray beats Rafa so it's an easy money in the final for me :-D
#17
He was born in Dunblane but spent most of his youth in Barcelona to become a pro tennis player, whenever he plays Wimbledon he stays in his Surrey home.

Bah.

And that girlfriend of his - I recall she split up with him a while ago. I'm guessing she couldn't live without his millions.

Bah.

YES Op fail, you have highlighted parts out of context! read my 1st post....

They are suggesting that a brit doing well in tennis will somehow cushion the blow of ENGLANDS world cup dissapointment.... what bit don't u get??

And who cares what the media write anyway? and the scottish media are just as bad!

nope hes just plain old scottish.........

come on nadal:thumbsup: hammer the mong into the ground

Poor old england are out of the world cup so a few wish to support a Scottish tennis player representing Britain, fine by me!!

As for saying the scottish media are as bad as the English, that is plain rediculous, we wouldn't put so much pressure on our athlestes and think they have a divine right to win everything, we also wouldnt scupper our countrys bid to host a world cup, get you fact right, ignorance is bliss.
#25
Does anybody (SIr Cliff and a few posh women aside) actually watch tennis?

i think youll find the cottish media are exactly the same........dont you remember coulthard being the "scottish no1" F1 driver........then suddenly he was british again.

in fact the 2 terms are used interchangably for any circumstance so its all a bit of a nonsense anyway.

unless youve got some point to prove:thumbsup:

You have a choice of three then, I find it very negative that you would choose not support a UK player. :?

You know ...normally I would disagree with a statement like that. However, having looked through two threads where people just seem to want to do the Scotland v England theme...I am beginning to agree.

Not worth it..

This place used to be full of fun and banter...ah well ..back to anonymity!

:? As far as I can tell I havent sown anything..

But if you really want to start getting petty in saying 'who started this'....perhaps you should read the words of the original National Anthem

Lord, grant that Marshal Wade,
May by thy mighty aid,
Victory bring.
May he sedition hush and like a torrent rush,
Rebellious Scots to crush,
God save the King.

;-)

Germany were the better team...live with it.....

Perhaps you should also get your players to keep their todgers in their trousers as well..and perhaps they would play better as a team ..

They'd have been as well staying at home,

it's called sarcastic, not mental.

Why come on to a thread about Andy Murray and attempt such shallow attacks at such a proud nation as Scotland?

Scottish people have pride and passion that you can only dream about.

And even if they lose, they try their hearts out, and can hold their heads high, unlike the england world cup squad.
