There should be 2 at the back near the bottom. But to be honest there should be one on the front next to the USB ports as well.

Is this an error on dells part do you know?

Just seems silly to have wrote 1394 over a closed poet on the front?

Thanks

Couldn't say for sure but it could be that maybe you have a spin off of an inspiron 530 such as a 530s or 530n perhaps?

If you go here http://www.trustedreviews.com/pcs/review/2007/09/11/Dell-Inspiron-530/p1

This bloke clearly says that there is a firewire port on the front of the inspiron 530.

The front maintains a nice clean look ........ Four USB 2.0 ports, a FireWire port, and a pair of audio jacks,

I take it the bit of plastic that's blocking the port cant be removed? I mean it's not simply a protective cap?

if it is a protective cap it doesn't want to come off :(

The bottom PCI card is the Firewire card, if your computer doesn't have this then you are out of luck. However you will find these card's are dirt cheap!

It has this card at the back as pictured.

I paid the extra £10 at Dell for it so not really sure what to expect but thought it would have a port at the front and since it has a port with 1394 above it at the front covered that maybe it did or should??

Thanks for help and pictures, appreciated.
