Hammersmith and Fulham is a complete nightmare to park in. You are probably better off parking around Richmond/Sheen on Wednesday and collecting your car on Thursday, providing you don't need it Wednesday night.

There are some good free spots in the side roads along Upper Richmond Road, but you will have to get a 33 bus into Hammersmith Broadway (15 mins) and back out the next day. Depends on how near Hammersmith you mean really.

what's your parking budget? it may be worth trying parkonmydrive.com or parkatmyhouse.. also, could try parking on a street in osterly (ample parking) or chiswick and getting the h91 bus into hammersmith

Easiest thing to do would be to park somewhere like Warwick Road, Ealing Common (free all day) - only a few stops on the District line to Hammersmith. Less than a 5 min walk to the tube station even if you take it slowly. Best to get there early as a lot of ppl park there and commute and many times filming crew trailers fill half the road.
There's plenty of parking in Hammersmith. But if you plan on being in town all day you'd have to worry about moving the car about to fit in with free hours / pay& display times.
It really depends on your plans. Are you staying with friends or family? In a hotel? Residents and businesses in the area can get 1 day permits which you just scratch off for the applicable day. I'm not a huge fan of Osterley, but that may just be habit.

Does the hotel not provide parking?
