Can't you just pay them in to your bank and then draw them out again? If not, then it's obviously fishy and no wonder nobody will change them for you!

If they're not going in your bank, why do you want them changed? just out of interest

seems a bit strange to me aswell, just deposit them into your account:?
#7
why dont you just put it in your account then take it back out.

There are so may options for you, if you act fishy then everyone will treat you as if you were Nemo himself.

Wow, so accusing guys, it was just a question!
I sold a car for £1100 cash, I am self employed and i use the one account for both business and personal, I didnt want to put the amount into the bank as it will show as a large deposit and I dont want to pay income tax on a straight forward one off cash car sale.
As for the comment 'they are fake' .....you tool! would I take fake notes to a BANK and POST OFFICE , tit!

The reason I want to change them to £20's is that everyone will accept a £20 while spending £50 notes is very difficult and people look at you like you are a 'leper;

if you are self employed as i am then you must know that you only need to provide you bill of sale for the car if the revenue ever questioned you about it and the problem would be sorted

Maybe if you got your self a job and worked for a living instead of coming up with stupid remarks then you may actually see some £50 notes instead of a giro cheque.

Well you must have a personal account. Stick them in there. If not, open one or stick them in and explain what it is on your tax return. Simple.

Open a new account then deposit cash.

Withdraw cash.

May even be able to find one with some kind of Quidco bonus attached.

What if the car was part of his business, he would be taxed on this because it was an asset ...............by keeping some of the cash in his pocket(1100) and lets say only declaring a grand thro the books he will save plenty of tax and vat (assuming he got 2100 for his car)

he clearly stated that he sold the car for £1100 and has never stated that it was part of his buisiness and if it was he would of already claimed the car against his buisiness and got tax relief for it , aside from that he could just say he went to the bookies and won the money on the horses over several bets , anyway you look at it saying he is self employed and thats why he doesn't want to pay it in if rubbish

£50 notes are pointless because if you try and use one, or mention you have one alarm bells start ringing and somebody calls the SWAT team. I tried to use one in Burger King once because it was all i had in my wallet and they wouldn't accept it. I had to scrape together the price of the meal from my friends. That burger King is now closed so that will tighten them.

Exactly, so when you sell a business asset which has benefitted from tax relief you will get TAXED!! its simple

also the taxman has access to all accounts -business and PERSONAL, thats why this guy can't pay it in, whichever way you look at it he wants the cash in his pocket ...which means Tax Free money

my banks terrible, they want to know the ins and outs off a cats **** when you deposite any money! go to an arcade that gives out change. they may take them but i doubt it, the other option would be to use them for youre weekly shop? or if you pay cash for bills use them that way! fuel for youre car. all these suggestions will obviously take a while to spend.

why are al u people picking on the lad. if u cant answer is question dont bloody answer or poste any negative commentrs on here.

doesnt really matter where he got his money from. you dont see no one asking you how much u got in ur bank account? and how did it get there? and why did u get that amount and not any other amount?

SIMPLE AS THAT, get a grip and just stop beingn negative.

Well see you have to understand that if you ask a quesiton on the internet you're going to get these comments and more over if you say something like "I have a wad of £50 notes" it looks dodgy. I wouldn't say you're post was overly positive too be honest.

i know but i really got ****** of cause he only asked a question and everyone just jumped on him. didnt even let him epxlain and people were making assumptions.

Will Banks & PO's not even change one or two at a time into lesser denominations?

I am not arguing but I find it hard to believe a Bank will not change money without the need for depositing it into an account first. That's a bit odd.

I LOL'd at this thread.............remind me not to ask any more questions if I don't want the 3rd degree:lol:

Afraid it's a sign of the times everyone is guilty until proven innocent best advice is if you going to ask a question here bring a pinch of salt
