Over on the Eiffel tower? it will probably be cheaper than the eye!

btw..he lives in kettering... would prefer london as the girl os fond of london although is a brummie...

but not necessairly london...can be any town/place relatively close...doesnt wanna take her away far or anything so she detects something is going on!

Hill watching the sunset. It's cheap, they'll be alone and she'll love it!

Just make sure he memorises a speech to say

He could take her to the theatre maybe and phone ahead to get them on board?

Kettering is close to cambridge - could go there on the river - take a private boat

It wasn't too bad when I went to France but for some reason loads of girls dig the idea of it :?

Here you go
http://www.roofgardens.com/home_flash/

Edit

What I had in mind was spending the day (obviously picking a nice sunny day) in the gardens, followed by a nice dinner at Babylon and possibly spending the evening at the club (if theyre into that type of thing)

To be fair IMHO...doesnt matter where it happens...its about the 2 people not the location, but if it was me it would be somewhere tranquil, beautiful and romantic....

Maybe hill as suggested or maybe if there is somewhere really breathtaking around (not kettering though) with maybe a lake and some sort of forest/woods etc and do it just as the last bit of light hits the water
#15
oxo tower restaurant....excellent views of london from there
#16
Have a long chat with him about London, the surrounding area and the benifits of marriage,
Then with a bit of luck He will

not do it at all
( the sensible recommendation )

EDIT Ps If he does go through with it Please Please remind him
not to mention the fact that he would have proposed at the London
eye if it wasn't £300!!!!

not an ideal place for marriage proposal, flashing lights, constant beeping, opening/closing of doors etc, might not be the calm/romantic touch he is looking for lol

Isn't that just like any other part of London then?!

Always though it was quiet compared to that hell hole

When I went, it was pretty disappointing. Me and my ex went up there late hoping to get a glimpse of the night view but it was so foggy we couldn't see anything below it. Not sure if its like this every night but the weather was already pretty good that day. We ended up being in a long queue waiting to get down and leave lol. Overall, I didn't think France was as romantic as people say it is when I went.

That's the next place I intend to go for a romantic get away :x Hope I have a nice time!
when i went to Germany just before x-mas I was pretty lucky as our hotel was next to the main tourist attraction! so knew when the weather was good! :-D

I would say he should think about somewhere his gf thinks is romantic or significant to them, I know where i'd love my bf to propose  somewhere in london where we had our 1st (2nd kiss) which got interrupted by homeless people... and traffic lights, thus why our (in my opinion) 2nd kiss is more like our first! :)

My hubby took me to Kenilworth Castle to propose, did the bending down on one knee job. I really like the idea of the boat trip - does she like water?

In general. I think that you're right - especially about the Eiffel Tower, a definitely romance-free zone but Versailles is pretty romantic!!
However, if the budget is under £300, how about a day out (at the circus, if there is one) in Corby - got to be unusual - no I'm joking. Picnic at Rockingham is my best bet.
Got to agree with sassie as to the whole planning a proposal thing though.

How about a nice trip round the London dungeon followed by Madame Tussauds, using Tesco vouchers of course. Then he could stand next to a nice waxwork of Kylie and give it the old 'I'm stood here next to Kylie but still prefer you, so how's about tying the knot, ay'. Sure that would work a treat ;-)

I'm about as romantic as a flea infestation, so probably not the best for ideas, but the London Aquarium is quite nice, unless full of school kids. Ohter than that, I can't think of anywhere else to go in London that doesn't involve shopping :-D

Check out this website, and most of them hardly cost a penny, just a bit of romance which surely is all that matters!?!
