best for what?

a psp is a better option imho and costs about £75-£100 with a 16GB card (about 20 movies).

£75-£80 here with 8+2gb cards

plays movies, mp3s, jpeg photos, games etc etc

Archos 5 is very nice and you can do loads with it. Stream, connect to internet, turn it into a Satnav etc....

thanks for your replies:thumbsup: What i'm looking for is a bigger screen then the psp and the fact you can record off the tv , surf the internet via the wifi. I'm not sure which Archos has good reviews, i was thinking the archos 705 but then noticed there are mixed reviews so am stuck what to do. I've been online all morning and am finding the ranges of archos's available very confusing!! Wow just saw the price of the Archos 5, a little out of my price range but the product looks amazing.

Oh, i didn't notice that, thanks for that:thumbsup:. The Archos 7 i'm thinking about buying has a 7 inch screen i think but the reviews on some sites haven't been that good about the screen resoloution and the sound.

I debated the 5 and the 7 but settled on the 5 because it's more compact. The 7 is bigger than what you'd expect and not as handy for planes, trains etc. Plus, you can get more memory for your money with the 5.

I have a psp and its the best VFM product I have bought in years. £50 from hukd

picture quality is near perfect for tv episodes

oh, and plays great games too (echochrome, locoroco etc)

Whichever one you choose, you need to factor in buying a dock for recording off the TV, plus additional costs for codecs for certain video formats (mine won't play DivX files for instance).

I've had a 605 wifi for nearly three years and I love it's versatility, but the cheekiness of it can be grating.
Of course you can always use free video convert software (as I do) but it's a pain.
