BeThere. Because the hold music sounds like European disco pop with a lady making sex noises for vocals, which I think more customer service lines should ahve. They're also extremely fast, and very reliable, and I recommend them to people without hesitation because their Speedtouch routers are the best in the business (based on comparison to Netgear and Linksys, anyway), and getting connected is as easy as plugging the box into the wall and a wire from your PC into the box.

I've been on many ISPs in the past (Nildram, UKOnline, Plus, Bulldog, and probably some others I've forgotten about), and BeThere are the best by a long, long way.

go to samknows and see what services you can get then tell us.

AOL cause I've had no problems in over 10 years, BUT their new packages have usage limits.
#4
Orange, been with them since they were freeserve.

O2 Broadband Standard 8mbit down, 1.3mbit up

Why: £7.50/month as I am an O2 Mobile Pay Monthly customers
#9
BT Total Broadband, why? Because it's free as an employee, being honest If it wasn't free I'd be looking at Be/o2 or some other ADSL2+ provider.

Freedom2Surf

Why? Because I did a lot of looking into it and they weere classed as the most reliable and best customer service. Was then best price but I had had the best price before :p

Only had to phone them once for a problem and when I did they looked at my account at the same time, dropped my price by £10/month and upped my line speed.

Guess you get what you pay for some times :)

Take a look at www.thinkbroadband.com (formerly www.adslguide.org) they have ratings based on customer responses to questions, including speed, customer service, reliability etc.

They also have excellent forums with some knowledgable folk.

Im with Virgin Media. I get 2mg for £10 a month. Its very fast and as Vifrgin uses fibre optic cables, the Internet speed never decreases from 2mb unlike adsl internet. Also there is so download limit.
#12
karoo because that is all we can get

Virgin

Why?

Eurovox :-D
[mod]#14
Virgin 20mb (and before that NTL) on a never ending £10 a month retention deal. :-D

Why? Cause it's fast and for all the capping talk, i have still yet to have my connection throttled even when i hammer it all day long. :)
#15

Yep. I used to trial the new services for NTL and then carried on doing the same for Virgin so i've been on 20mb for a looong time now. During this time i threatened to leave towards the end of NTL's time and they offered me £10 a month for as long as i stay and it carried over into Virgin. :giggle:
#18
Oh ok ill try calling Virgin to pretend to cancel and see what they offer me.

Make sure they put you through to retentions and not just deal with it at customer services as they'll give you nothing.

Thx for the advice. I too have Starview by using the Virgin Media connection but my Sky Movies channels dont work anymore!
#21
I had NTL for a year and it was great but moved to a non cable area so now I'm with fast.co.uk (moved to them from tiscali a while ago because tiscali were just d*cking me about, hardly ever worked and cr*p speeds and they port throttled)

Pro's of fast.co.uk

Voted best in UK recently for quality, customer service and support

Low amount of users so awesome speeds, a real 8Meg connection

Reliable

No port throttling

Support is excellent, UK based local call rate, no queues and no-one following a script insisting i plug in the soddin tiscali usb modem and re-start my soddin PC
Con's of fast.co.uk

Low download limits

Certainly not the cheapest
You get what you pay for basically is the lesson I've learnt between tiscali and fast.

What the.....20mb for £10!

Thought i screwed the retention team with:

2mb broadband, talk anywhere 200 & large tv for £33.....but that takes some beating.

.....oh back to the question, if you live in a cable area don't contemplate anything else, fibre optic cables

UKFSN, £20 a month and with them mainly because I am a big downloader and they don't throttle p2p traffic, 30gb peak usage and 300gb off peak so just leave my computer on all night downloading :)
#31
tiscali , slowwwwwwwwwwww speed but im miles from anywhere so when i checked i cant have any speed anyway , reduced mine to 15 quid a month on the lowest tarif

im open to change though , only good thing about tiscali is the national call costs when i phone to sort stuff out like wheres the dam connection today

Currently with B.T,I do really like AOL other than their customer services,I was well used to their layout and all but had problems with my line 1 day and I get annoyed speaking to them cos their customer services are not great so I just cancelled and waited for my line to free up back to normal dial up cos they not give me a MAC code or whatever its called.

I went with B.T cos you got some Quidco at the time and I got an 18mth contract, probably about 1 yr left, most likely will change again, its ok,I just want to get online really,we don't much d/l but we pay for upto 8MB and when I do checks its usually running on 6MB.I got a BT Talk in with it too. Don't think B.T the best there probably is but its not the worse either.

I'm not sure, I have a vague recollection of looking into them when I was ISP searching back in around February and discarding them for some reason, why...is there something brilliant about them I am missing?
#36
If you have O2 Mobile Paymonth/Contract you can get O2BB (which uses Be) for 8mbit £7.50/month, 16mbit £10/month, 20mbit £14/month

Otherwise be = £18/month for 24mbit s

Virgin Media - 20mb for £25 a month.

Why because its the fastest broadband I can get, If I got BB over the BT network I can only get 5mb maximum.

Although virgin are upto their usual tricks saying im in credit so have nothing to pay even though I know Its wrong. I have told them this but how the hell can I pay if they say I am in credit? I have tried till I am blue in the face to pay them but they wont take anything off me.

They are reliable and no caps or throttleing. Faster and cheaper as well! An if you have an O2 mobile contract - its cheaper still! (see Schizoboys post)
