Which car to get? Mini One, Fiat Punto (new shape) and Fiesta (old shape)?

My sister is looking for a car as she has her driving test last month.
She really wants a MINI one but can probably only afford around 2003/2004 models. Otherwise, a Fiesta (around 2005/2006) or a Punto (2006/2007).
Can anyone who has got one of these advise if they have any problems or if there are any known problems?
Thanks

Around £4000 to £5000

Check insurance, if she can only afford 2003 models she probably can't afford the insurance.

Well actually she needs business insurance as she looks after kids in the community. 2003 models cheapest we found is £5000 and insurance is £838 full comp but £1400 business

Well id choose the polo over the punto any day. You can pick a 2006 plate i think within that budget or if she doesnt mind a skoda fabia which is basically has the same engine as a vw.

minis are brilliant but difficult to get kids out the back if they need car seats !

LOL she is 22. I think it's less if you're a 22 year old girl as I guess the insurance compancy's think 22yr old boys speed.
She is following her older sis into the big bad world of Nursing so anything to get her through 3 years of uni will be great.

buy my car please, honda civic 2004 plate 64k - £3000
Oh i want a new car :(:(

I have had about 7 minis in total, superb little cars. But at that age I would make sure its 100% perfect because they can be very expensive to fix. Gearbox issues are common also and these are £1000 plus to repair!! When you find a good one you will love it for ever!!

My sister has a mini and can only fit 2 of my kids in the back. Not the best car to choose if your sister looks after kids.
