Which car is easiest to resell?

I am heading back to the UK in December for xmas before I leave again to live in another country - maybe back to thailand or maybe usa for a bit.

I am flying into Stanstead from Kuala Lumpur (cheapest ticket I could find), so I thought I might buy a car on the day I land and drive up to my parents in Manchester area for Christmas.

I want to get a car as its going to

1) get back to my parents without having to get a bus/train/plane
2) allow me to get my no claims discount certificate re done (i have got 5 years NCD but you need to get an insurance policy before 12 months is up or you will loose it - could be 2 years, but mostly 12 months I think)
3) visit a few clients when I am back in UK for a month

So what car is easiest to sell again in 1 months time... I have plenty of cash... up to £40,000 - but would not mind having an old banger either.

What do you think I should get?

Apart from your no claims surely the best bet is to hire one. The hassle and losses you will make would far out weigh the positives of the no claims to me.

Porche's hold their value quite well.

Hire one, you should be able to get a decent rate for a 1 month car hire.

I'd be wary about buying a car off someone who had only owned it a month so perhaps selling it would be a problem.

If you have to buy one then how about doing a deal with a dealer whereby you agree on a buy back price when buying it?

Might be temporary. Might only be for 5 years and comes back to visit on a yearly basis and thinks its worth keeping his no claims?

Put it this way, if you could afford £40,000 cash to buy a motor and sell it on, would you be asking on here about it?

I am not a troll, I have that money in the bank after selling my house a few years ago - I was just trying to give the full story.

I dont want to loose 5 years no claims bonus as my situation my change and I might have to move back to UK for good.

Anyway, I dont think i'll be renting a car as one of the main reasons is the ncd - I do like Audi's - used to have a A3 1.8t, very nice car so maybe go for another one of those.

I would only spend £40k on a car if I could get £40k back... that is the main idea really, to try and get most if not all of my money back.....ie: Which car is easiest to resell?

Buying a car for 40K and selling it for 40k a month after will be impossible. How about do a one month hire for your needs, and ring around some insurance companies and see if they can help protect you NCB for a few years o you can keep your options open.
