Which car to buy???

I've been looking at trading my car in for some time.

I have it narrowed down to 3 options as below, please note I'm trading in a 52 plate renault laguna 1.9 TDci Expression with 133k miles on the clock.

Choice 1 - Vauxhall Vectra 1.8 SRi on an 06 plate with 42k on the clock in black from an Arnold Clark dealer with 60 day warranty. Dealers willing to pay 6 month tax and for my cherished plate transfer. Insurance will increase by £25 between now and renewal in September

Choice 2 - Vauxhall Astra 1.6 16v SXi on a 55 plate with 25k miles on clock in silver, again from an Arnold Clark dealer with 60 day warranty. Dealer willing to pay 6 months road tax but I'd have to pay plate transfer fee. No extra cost to insurance.

Choice 3 - Vauxhall Astra 1.6 16v SXi on a 55 plate with 28k miles on clock in silver. Ths would be from a Network Q dealer with full 12 month MOT and 12 month warranty. Also get MOT 4 lifeon used cars from network Q. Dealer again will pay 6 months tax and I pay plate transfer fee. Again no further premium on insurance.

Cost per month is roughly same for each vehicle, give or take a couple quid.

All input, as long as its relevant is welcome.

Thanks

Open ended Qs to think about (in case you haven't already)

why limit yourself to vauxhall?
what are the likely resale values?

Not just looked at vauxhalls TBH, but they are the ones where I have been able to get the best deal. If i'm being totally honest I just want rid of my Laguna ASAP as its getting to the point where stuff keeps going wrong with it and its a case of I budget for x amount a month for a new car or hope that I dont get stumped with a big bill any time soon. Spent in excess of £1500 last year on gearbox :x :x Needless to say I will not be buying a car made by our brothers across the channel

yup, french cars are notoriously bad - they even put engine parts in weird inaccessible places.

do look at resale values as that will impact the net cost of your purchase.

If i was you.... I would look a what was the best car for your needs, do you need the extra space with the vectra ?

The downside to the vectra is the 1.8 petrol, very underpowered in my opinion...

Im guessing your getting around £1k for the trade in, and then looking at spending around £6k-7k on the above cars?

Have you thought about anything but Vauxhall?

One final thing... in my opinion I would not buy a car from AC... one of their main trends seem to be selling ex hire cars to people... sales staff saying 1 one owner, It only when you see the V5 you see the "coded" hire car company name,,,For example National Car Rental's have Provincial Services with a Leicester address on the V5. They technically are one owner (National), its just had several drivers.

I would personnally go for a Mazda 6, superb cars.
Funnily enough... I was talking to my sister last week and I told her I was looking to buy a Mazda 6, she said she would never buy a Japanese car because of the way the Japanese tortured prisoners during the war...she currently drives a BMW:whistling::shock:

Well I would rule out option 2 as you have the same car in Option 3 but with better extras.
That leaves 1 and 2 - Personally I would go with the Astra but would recommend test driving them for size/space of your needs
