So what is to be PS3 or XBOX 360 and more importantly why?????

I really appreciate all info as I am currently considering what to get.
And for all those about to start talkign about the Wii, I already have one.

I only bought a ps3 recently, and was wondering the same thing. I went for the ps3 mainly because of the blu ray drive, but it's a fantastic bit of kit tbh...

lol N64 ftw

depends on your own preference but xbox new console is a bit of a joke for a hardcore gamer so ps3 but depends on what u do more of.
Xbox = Online play cant beat it but downside have to pay
PS3 = Can do more things so not just a console, hasn't been pushed to the limits yet so going to be around longer that the xbox but downside the online play is good but the xbox is better. Get what u pay for
Solution why not get both :D

been done a million times but it depends what you want it for, in my opinion the 360 is a lot better as a gaming console, games, conroller, online, just everything about it, and the ps3 is also a good console which has the bonus a blu ray player.

If i had to choose it would be the 360 everytime.

And i'm not a fanboy, i've got both :)

Whichever one most of your friends have.

If thats not relevant get whichever is cheaper for your needs ie if you don't need a blu ray player you might be best to get an xbox

Both :)

Got both myself, 360 for online play, Live kicks PSN! However use my PS3 mainly for bluray or those who don't have the 360.

Really does depend, both consoles will have their own exclusive games, multi platform games will come down for me on who has what console so we can all play online.

For a pure dedicated gaming console I would say you should go for the 360 now since the Jasper Elite 360's are going for £149 on amazon and maybe cheaper elsewhere?

If you want to buy a PS3 wait a couple of months for it to drop in price which im sure they will since the new 360 slim is out!

If you are getting it purely for Games - get a Xbox. Get the New one as its very nice looking and cheap.

If you want to watch Movies (Blu Ray,3D) use it as a home media server, Watch iPlayer, Stream Online, and more stuff like that- then pay the extra 50£ for a PS3.

PS3 - you save money on online gaming costs (no need for Xbox live for 40£ a year) But the games are usually more expensive and the prices don't fall so soon.

I use a PS3.Love it :)

Just to correct you Rukshan its about £28 a year for xbox live.

oops.. thought its 40£ 28s not bad at all..

depends what you want it for. if you want a bluray player and plan to use it as a media player then a ps3. if you plan to use it as a games console then an xbox 360.

I have both currently,
Ps3 = iPlayer and Youtube for catching up on TV, BluRay, & Singstar for Girlfriend!
Xbox = Gaming, Its a better community.
I have MW2 on both and I enjoy it on Xbox more.

It also comes down to what games you want to play, personally I can't imagine life without Left 4 Dead 1 and 2 :) So need an Xbox, there also seems to be a lot more back catalogue of games for the Xbox, although PS3 is starting to catch up.

I've recently got a PS3 but only games I have on it are Uncharted 1 &2, Infamous, Buzz and Heavy Rain, all good games but I would not have paid full price for a console just for those and future exclusives as I prefer the Xbox for games.

The PS3 however plays BluRay and streams much better from PC than the Xbox (in my case anyway, xbox always seems to be a hassle getting streaming video).

Personally if you don't need a bluray player then I would say go for the Xbox, it's cheaper and there are masses of great games already out there, some of which you would miss out on if you had a PS3 (and vice versa of course).

360, ive played on both on them on the same 1080p, 200hz LCD's and dicided to do a little test. even though the ps3 really meant to be better when it comes to graphics, the Xbox picture quality was clearly the more shaper, is was very apparent when playing GRID racer and looking at the lines in the middle of the road, on the ps3 it was difficult to see exactly when the lines broke, even when paused.

though you need to pay for xbox live (online play) the experience is much better.

PS3.

Have had a 360 since 2006, but got a PS3 recently. I've barely used it so far besides playing a few demos, Vidzone (which is admittedly very good) and watching Blu Rays. That's not to say it's a bad console. I've played about half an hour of Heavy Rain, as well as demos of MGS4, Uncharted 2, Infamous and God Of War 3- all of which very much impressed me and I intend to play all of them at some point. My honest opinion is that anyone who likes games will find themselves very well served by either console. It all boils down to how much you value online play and interaction (360 wins there) and which exclusives you'd rather be playing.

hands down, a ps3 is far better. owned both but sold the 360.

I have both but only recently got the PS3.
Again to repeat what the others have said.....
Both are good consoles, both have excellent 'exclusive games', I think that for the money you can't go wrong with the 360, the cost is less, LIVE is better that the PSN.

If you really want to splash, get both :o)

I guess it depends if the OP simply wants to play games.

you can pick up both consoles for around £200 .........are you a pauper?

why have you not had a decent games console for the last god knows how many years since they were released?

I'll go with this.

Personally, I'm sick of seeing this thread. What difference does it make what we like? If I like the 360 it doesn't mean you will. Hands-on is the only way. You must have mates who have both?
#23
I own both and use my 360 exclusively to play games and the PS3 exclusively to watch movies. That isn't to say the PS3 has terrible games it's just given the choice I always choose 360 as it's what all my friends own.

PS3 everytime, better up-coming exclusives IMO, and better past exclusives if your not a shooter fan, more people playing online with 360 but a maturer community on PS3. Again IMO.
