Having never seen a blu-ray film before, which Blu-ray disc should I order to test out my new player? I was thinking of the Matrix triology, would this be a good first choice?

oh and Wall-E is awesome on BD

Does the blu ray player come with a HDMI cable?

If you have not got one then best get one as if it is not connected by HDMI you wont notice any difference.

I think most votes will go to BBC Planet Earth series or BBC life.

This also might be of some help.

I always thought the two latest Bond films looked good on Blu-ray also Apocalypto.

Iron Man

Thanks, some nice suggestions.

The thing is, I already own Planet earth on DVD, surely it wouldn't be worth buying it on Blu-ray as well, would it?

I was planning to get Wall-E on DVD a while go, so that seems to be the best choice. It's 10.98 on Amazon, so I may go for that.

I already have a HDMI cable for my DVD player, so i probably just use that. Hopefully, it lets the blu-ray player show its full high-def glory....

...maybe I should try a non-animated film as well though...

Thanks for suggestion, but Bond films tend to bore me to tears (I know, I'm odd). I have a look into Apocalypto...

I was going to see Dark Knight at the IMAX, but never got around to it. So, maybe watching it on Blu-ray will be the next best thing...

Wall-E

Dark Knight

Wall E is a good choice. For live action The Dark Knight great film, great picture, great sound and pretty good extras. Planet earth is also a great watch (Only 1080i though) but for really stunning visuals Baraka is about as good as it gets.

Fantastic 4 Rise Of The Silver Surfer and Iron Man both look incredible on blu ray. Apocalypto as well.
