As someone who has never even tried any of the consoles out there can I seek some advice as to which I should buy. It seems to be between XBox, Wii and Playstation 3 I believe.

More a fan of battle, sports type games rather than arcade type.

Any assistance welcome.

In before fanboys.

Buying all three is the only way to avoid becoming a fanboy.

Too late :w00t:.

I got both - I would say 360 tbh.

You go online playing?
#5
i have all 3. Use ps3 most.
#6
I've got all 3 and use the 360 the most.
#7
Look and see what games you'd like to play the most, and then buy the console that has them on it.
#8
Can usually pick up 360 games cheaper and quicker...

i have ps2 360 and wii.

i play all of them just depends on the mood am in

360. Or PS3. Wii . . . . meh . . . . . take or leave . . . . .

depends on what you want. PS3 and 360 are hardcore gaming consoles and the Wii is a bit of family fun. PS3 is more expensive but has Blu-ray and the online play is free. However, the 360 has far superior online play and much bigger choice of games. However, you have to pay for XboxLive (XBL) and an adapter if your wireless router is nowhere near your TV or wherever you're gonna play. I got a 360 and never looked back

I had a wii but it rarely got used so sold that-novel idea but thought the selection and quality of games were pretty poor. Now have the 360 & ps3 and not biased one way or the other. Personally Id say for games *on the whole* your best bet is the 360, the ps3 would be a good all round bet if you intend on using the blu ray player. Also worth considering online for the ps3 is free whereas you pay around 35-40 per year for the 360

Where do all you guys (or girls) get all the time to use 3 Consoles !!!

Must admit that Xbox or Playstation games have seemed better on the adverts I've seen.

I've got a 6 year old son who will probably want to get some games too ... does this make any difference?

Wii for you. Enjoy Xmas flailing around like a mentalist trying to hit imaginary balls in front of the TV. :p

yep a Wii n Wii Sport would go down a storm.

Though I bet he'd love a 360 aswell tho....

Choices, choices.

I use PS3 most - but that's only cos I use it for upscaling DVD's n playing Blu-ray's.

360's the best games console without a doubt - massive cheap library, more better exclusives than PS3 too.

How did you know I have a 50" Plasma !!! Can you see me? AAAAHHHHHH

Wii it is for you then...

Not really got the time, but when a good game comes out on the Wii... get it, same goes for exclusive titles on the PS3 & 360.

Wii = Just Don't!

the most over-rated console ever. Its predecessor was better and more powerful (gamecube!). No idea how Nintendo get away with calling it a next-gen console.

PS3 for all-round quality, capabilities and value.

360 if you only want to play games.

I have a ps2 (fat & slim, brother issues), xbox 360 & PC.
I never really play on any of them to be honest...but I quite like pc gaming, seems more mature.

However if you're on a serious budget, the ps2 slim would be ideal. All those buzz, singstar and fifa's are still coming out.
But long term, the xbox 360 seems the sensible solution. Current Gen graphics, HD and the most varied selection of games - with the most exclusives bar the Wii.

If like most people, for some reason I really want to buy a PS3 - it's just really slick and techie looking you know, it's just gamewise - I would never play on it, the games seems sparser (unless they are multiplatform) and pricier. Xbox 360 games seem to sell and so shops stock more and slash prices more (right?).

But the Wii is excellent if you're savvy enough, I'm 21 now and I've just lost track of what's good and bad on the Nintendo platforms. There are so many games, but the quality threshold has plummeted and I no longer can justify to myself to only buying Nintendo made games as they are the best, without question - sans the blood and guts variety games.
With a 6 year old, you'll have tons of fun with mario kart & the other nintendo orientated games. It's just personally, I would prefer just the one box near my tv - not two. And the xbox 360 seems all-inclusive. If you're 18-39, I'm not quite sure the Wii fits the bill as the other two (hardcore people like to call them but they're just traditional) *normal* consoles.

I always do such long posts, sorry!

Sod the gamecube! It's predecessor was far better, the N64.... oh how I miss simple gaming...
