It's not the program that's making your downloads slow, it's the tracker your using. You're probably trying to download something with a lot of leechers and hardly any seeders, or something that has little or no seeders.

Anyway, use uTorrent.

Remember and don't set your upload speed too high , around 12kbs to 18kbs depending on your providers upload speed.

TBH if you want full speed you need to go for a NZB setup.
Full throttle all day long

If you are using wireless, you may have to set up port forwarding for your router to make sure the port is opened properly.

Mate said the rumour round virgin media (hes a good position in there) is that they are gonna adopt the stance of immediate internet suspension of service followed by complete ban on re-offend...for uploaders of copyrighted material identified by 3rd parties (riaa etc), and reckons most isps will follow suit. Dunno truth, jus sayin.

you should have a green circle with a tick in it at the bottom centre of the utorrent window. red or amber isnt good.

Utorrent has an option to encrypt traffic (not sure if it's in latest versions though) so you should always enable that. On top of that, there are programs to encrypt all downloads and "protect" yourself although i don't use them. I think PeerGuardian and Protowall are 2 such programs.

Virgin recently announced their new 50mb/s domestic service. Who are they aiming this at I wonder? You can download your antipodean cousins 700mb wedding divx in 7 mins on 20mb/s broadband so who needs 50mb/s? I suppose it will make downloading the 1080p version of the wedding video at 5gb in H264 that bit quicker :whistling:
