Amazon definitely....

Play is Jersey based so they don't have to follow UK law, like the sales of goods acts etc. Amazon are UK mainland and therefor will be easier to get a response from. Amazon also have the best Customer service. They do know how how to treat a customer....

Play refused to take back my playTV, which broke 9 months after i bought it. Told me to send it back to Sony, Sony said to send it back to Play. Would not budge. Terrible, terrible CS.

I personally use both, and have had good deals on both. You do get quidco on play which is a bonus.

But, when things go wrong Amazon are much better at sorting out problems than Play are.

Amazon hands down - had a netbook, months later down the line it broke, i got a full refund even though they were selling it at half the price

OH's Wii went kaput 11 months into the warranty and we couldn't believe the Amazon Customer service tbh-a new one was sent out straight away- the whole thing was completely hassle free.
Know this won't be everyones experience but we found Amazon's after sales policy and general customer service to be excellent!

amazon - i've heard they are very good, and will happily replace things.

as for play i've found it a nightmare just trying to get in contact with them before.

play.com have terrible customer service. sold me a tv claiming i could get £100 cashback so long as i posted off the invoice within 7 days, yet they took 10 days to deliver. wouldn't do anything to help me with cashback. luckily toshiba decided to honour it after hours on the phone with them.

You can also get Nectar points from Amazon if you go through the nectar website.

NEVER USE PLAY FOR LARGE PURCHASES

they wont want to know if a fault develops after 28 days

In fact, you cant even contact them about the item via your order history once 28 days have elapsed (check your accounts to see).

What he said.

Great for DVD's and books but I would never make a large purchase with them. I had to ring them yesterday for an item that hadn't been posted after two weeks. The girl was nice enough but just read from a list and couldn't help me beyond telling me Play's policy on late delivery. I cancelled and ordered from Amazon.

Another vote for Amazon, never had any problems getting returns sorted out with them. I find Play's customer services are completely hopeless even when it's entirely their own fault, I only order from them now if their price is much better then rivals as it's just not worth the hassle trying to sort out their mistakes.
