You get cheaper deals on 3, OH is on it, but the reception is horrendous!!!! So is the call centre service, half of the time it is non UK based and they don't understand you. I am on O2, customer service is fine and 9 months through an 18 month contract they offered me an upgrade, just more expensive though!

o2 is far better, always get good reception, and their customer care is good, price wise 3 is better, but i will root for o2

I think 3 offer rates the same as the UK when travelling to their own networks in Italy, Australia etc. Don't think that includes France but it might be worth checking. Perhaps another network might have a similar pricing scheme including France.

I'm about to finish an 18 month contract with 3 and I have to say I am not very impressed. I don't think the standards of connection as well as other things like customer service are anywhere near to someone like o2. Having said that I have not had an o2 contract but they were good when I was on payg. I'm heading back to o2 when the new iphone is released soon.

It all depends where you are. Generally O2 will be better, but like all networks, have some weak spots.

Ive used all networks and currently with T-Mobile. That contracts ends in 6 weeks and will definately be using O2 only from now on.

If you don't care for 3G features O2 is better in my experience - and if you're not covered by O2's 3rd generation network you will generally get stronger signal and better battery life due to the lower operating frequency ;-)

Thanks for your thoughts, Rep left for all.

I've been a customer of both previously....I can tell you now. o2 is the choice mate.

o2 - ALWAYS have great reception..I was out in the country one time - my tmobile and 3 phones both were just out of it..but the o2 signal stood strong, they also have very good customer service.

3 - the reception is SO poor in some places..and so inconsistent. I also find that the software they put on their phones plays up a bit?? and I work for a market research company and when we do customer satisfaction jobs for 3 all we ever get is BAD feedback - regarding reception, customer service ..and so on.

Hope I've helped....

o2 has better reception in some cases... i had both (currently on orange) reception for 3g was good at home but nonexistent at work. so ask people you know what their reception is like where you hang out most.

3g is value for money so if they have good reception in your area then go for them, plus at the end of the year they'll offer you 11 months free on a 12 month contract. WITHOUT cashback. you just get it free dont have to send anything every blah months!

customer service on both are good. the indian people can be annoying but just speak to them slowly and tell them to speak slowly too and then you usually get what you ask for!

I have had no problems with 3 in the last 18 months and have just took the 1100 mins / texts and a free nokia 6500 classic for £20 a month with £80 quidco and £60 recommend a friend (recommended myself) and a £20 accessories voucher. Never dropped a call and had plenty of use of free minutes abroad if the 3 network is available. I can live with the substandard indian call centre at this price!

O2 are definately better. When i had a contract with 3 the services were rubbish and the line would always get cut off for some obscure reason..

I recently finished an 18 month contract with '3' and NEVER once had a problem wth reception. I moved to payg with o2 and suddenly I'm having problems making calls from home (low signal) and making cals from friends houses. O2 active is slow and rarely loads, planet 3 is fast and I have never had a problem with it.

I'm going back to '3' they seem to have better deals (unless a lot of people you call are on o2)

Also, you call '3' and very quickly you are speaking to customer services. They used to be awful but they are excellent now. Contrast that with my attempt to call o2 customer services yesterday. I waited 45 minutes with no reply.

Your comments might have been accurate a few years ago but now they're just wrong.

I would deffinetly go for 02. been with them at least 5 and a half years now, not had any problems with them. apart from when I went to cornwall, lol. but that was nearly 5 years ago.

on my 2nd 18 month contract with them, before then was payg. plus get free calls to other 02 numbers

until a few months ago i was on a three contract and never had any problems with reception, i have recently switched to an o2 contract and now my monthly bill is lower than it was when i was on 3, every month on three i was going over my bill, i have never went over my allocated o2 minutes/texts. plus o2 have raised there quidco to £100

edit: the 3 call centre is appalling the o2 one is much nicer!

Dial 202 from your mobile, I've rang them 3 times in the last month and never had to wait in a cue. Always got an english person aswell.

Yes I do know how to phone them, I also am quite an expert on holding my phone while waiting for it to be answered by them. I'm going back to '3' where I can get a signal and speak to customer services.

Three, apart from their overseas customer care, where you cant understand a bloody word, they are the best for service and packages

you must live in a rare place if you can get a signal with 3.

I suppose all networks can be hit and miss, as I mentioned before o2 have a very poor signal strength in quite a few places here. 3 seem to have the place sewn up. But I've never had an issue with signal strength with 3 ever.

I suppose the reason we have choice is because different people want different things and will have different opinions. If most of your friends are on o2 then they offer excellent deals, I need to call 3 a lot and I get 300 free 3 to 3 calls as well as a decent mix and match on payg which 02 cannot match.

My experiences of o2 are based on the last 6 days since I got my new samsung g600, I've had people offering to call me back as they couldn't hear me, this is in more than one location. The signal in my house is very poor. With three it's excellent so it's a no brainer.

I used to be on 3 but changed to O2 about 2 years ago as 3's reception was terrible, also customer service was not the best. I don't know if they have got better within the two years, but I think O2 is much better I have no reception trouble at all now!
