I didn't know what to expect walking in to this movie. I questioned myself "Is this movie going to be horrible, or is this movie going to be good?" The first fifteen minutes pretty much talks about the son having cancer, and the reason why they have to move into the house and why they can't move out. The movie was overall pretty good, but there was some flaws. Having something popping out every five second's can get pretty annoying, and the movie reminded me of way to many other movies. For example, when all the chairs getting stacked on to the table reminded me of The Poltergeist. Also the dead ghost haunting the people reminded me of The Messengers. Lastly the possession reminded me of The Unborn. The scares were pretty scary, the effects and picture quality were good, but cheap, and the acting was decent. Overall, the movie wasn't too scary, it was mostly creepy. I would give this a 8/10.

The good: Strong start to the movie, the plot hooks you in, excellent sound, confronting disaster scenes, haunting images, Rose Byrne, at times quite freaky, The Bad: Special effects looked like they were from a video game, ripped off basically every science fiction movie ever made, poor acting from Nic Cage, very predictable.

The Ugly: Last third of movie was shamefully ridiculous.

Summary: If you are a science fiction fan, you will probably not be able to resist seeing this movie. Be warned, you will think you are seeing the sci-fi great that you have been waiting for but mid way the film gets lost. You may very well groan out loud at the ending. This had the makings of a great movie but unfortunately it couldn't come up with the goods.

Thanks for these. When I read the synopsis about Haunting I was thinking to myself.. am I gonna be able to sit through yet another " horror film" that isn't going to actually scare me and will just conjure up the same images as many other movies before it.

I was thinking "knowing" sounded the better movie as I like Nicholas Cage in just about anything but then the storyline sounded kinda loose.

Really helpful message. Thank you x x

I think Marley and Me might not interest a 15yr old... lol

I shall have to look up The Boat that Rocked, thank you x x

Have seen them all... I do like the Saw films. They drive my husband mad as he always guesses the storyline before the film pans out and then wont watch it. Soon as we sat down to watch the first Saw film he saw the body in the middle of the room, and said... that's a famous actor. There's no way they paid him to just lay there dead, he must still be alive. Argh, story over!!!!
