1: Go with small and light
#2
2. Go with usable sized screen and longer battery life
#3
No1, better specs and the same screen resolution and since it is a laptop smaller is better.
#4
No1 better specs, No 2 bigger screen, realyy depends what you want it for!
#5
hard choice. id go for no1 though as its slightly more portable

agreed, although theres not much in it, both seem quite similar

If its work related and that's all you'll be using it for I'd opt for No.1.
If these two options are given to you by your employers (assuming not self employed and you are choosing from your own research) then I guess they both fit the bill for your workload requirements, or your employer wouldn't give you the option:-D
As previous posters state lighter, more portable.
Later if battery life proves inefficient have employer supply with option 2:thumbsup:

Oops just spotted no.1 has external cd/dvd drive is that additional weight to the 1.65kg and power source?

Stick the processor from 1 in 2 and have no.2
better batt life and an extra 2" would make it better.
Also you should be able to handle the extra weight.

It really depends on your usage, how often will you use a DVD? You don't really want to be lugging a seperate optical drive everywhere. How many hours will you be using it in a day? If it's between three and four then the second would be the obvious choice.

I'd personally be inclined to go for the smaller netbook-sized one - the smaller screen is better (same resolution but more portable) and laptop can never be too light.

I would choose Laptop 1 for mobility however as said before the battery life is shorter than 2.

Hmm I'd go for option 2 as a DVD drive is quite useful, You'll end up carrying it around. Anyway if its an option look at the Sony TZ laptops. They have an inbuilt DVD and are 11.1" screens. Usable. Plus carbon fiber body, and weigh around 1.2kgs, and havea huge 6hr battery life (subject to dvd use etc).
