A question for the newbie/ish parents out there.

Which mattress should i be going for?

I ahve bought a cotbed but i am stumped as to which one to go for. I have been looking at the mothercare website, i am planning to go instore to check them out, but i am finding it difficult to pick one out.

be careful on the size you buy as it must fit your cotbed properly so baby cannot roll inbetween the sides of the cot and the mattress and hurt him/herself somehow.

Lots of stories in the news like that.

I always chose the best mattress I could afford and a new one for each baby, as when my eldest was a baby there was all that stuff about antimony in the mattress causing cot death. All that has been removed from mattresses now so pretty much any mattress you buy from a reputable store should be safe. Just be careful that it fits perfectly.

Good luck xx

I would go in the shop and have a look at them, see which you like the look off most - very hard to decide off of a website.

I totally agree, you can see the quality then.

If its for a cot bed, I would go with a spring mattress as your child could be using it for a number of years.

We went for the more expensive one and our son used the cotbed until he was 6 (and could of longer) we then sold it and the mattress is still in use 3 yrs later.

I recently got this one from ebay and its fantastic. Nice and firm, ventilation holes, spare cover. Spring and foam. I decided not to spend too much on the toddler (cot) bed one as he'll be in a proper bed soon (nearly 3) so I'll spend more then. I can really recommend this mattress and the seller.

I also got a fab waterproof fitted sheet from another seller and I'd be happy to pass on the details.

It won't let me post a link - is this normal? Go to ebay and search for the item.
