Which mobile network for 3G signal and customer service??

Help please.

I am looking to get an Iphone 4 in the next few weeks and can't decide what network to go with. I live in London, but do travel about a bit and use the internet a lot. I am currently on Vodafone and to be honest not that impressed. I need to goto a window in my house to make calls which is becoming really annoying. So I'm looking around for a different network. I was with '3' a few years ago, but I found once I left London the signal became really weak and the customer service was shocking. Have they improved in the past 2 years? I am also considering Orange, but they seem expensive. Are they worth the extra?

I appreciate that signal will be down to location, but I just want to get some opinions from other users as the coverage maps can only tell you so much and the mobile forums only have horror stories from people and very rarely show how happy people are with their network.

Thanks for any advice you can give me.

3 have the best 3G network, both in terms of coverage and speed.

However, just because its best, doesn't make it good. The customer service was never a problem for me, but I'm moving back to Vodafone mainly because of the annoying slow switching between 3 3g and orange 2g backup.

Im on a 3GS and Voda, and the coverage where i live (Birmingham) is appalling.

t-mobile allow you 3gb of internet usage. Something to have a look at.

I'm with orange in Yorkshire area. Very good customer service with them but the 3G speed ive found very poor (I have iPhone 3GS) and their "unlimited" Internet useage Is actually only 750mb a month :-/

Have you ever had anything go wrong with O2? Only, I have, and I've not been able to reliably send txts for a year. I've tried two different phones, had a new SIM sent out and been given a myriad of fob-off excuses, all concluding in them telling me that there's nothing else they can suggest, and that I've jut got to live with it. Utterly useless.

I've had issues with my broadband before and spoke to customer services who were more than helpful.

I guess broadband and mobile have different people on their helpdesks.

I had pretty much the same problems with O2 about 3 years ago. New sims and constant calls to customer services. I was only a few months from the end of my contract so I gave up and went with another supplier. I was considering going with Tesco mobile, but they use O2 so I'm a bit wary.

Aye, does seem to be that way. I had a similar experience myself, my router failed, I phoned O2, and they sorted me out with a new router within a couple of days. It's just their mobile division that seems staffed entirely by imbeciles.

Mwalke, interesting to see you've also had problems. I've a mate also on O2 who's also had the same problem, so I'm starting to wonder how common the problem is. I'll have to do some more digging on this one, I think.

I have a 3GS iPhone on o2 and live in London, I work in central London and notice that a lot of places are dead zones which is absolutely ridiculous, can’t even get 2G, most times it says ‘No Service’. I walked up Oxford St/Tottenham Court Rd and was on 2G. EC2 area dead zone. Belsize Park, Hampstead area another dead zone. At home I barely have 2 bars of reception. Ridiculous.
