Erm Snooker, However I prefer Pool.
banned#3
pool is obviously more popular cos there are tables everywhere
#4
pool tables are like in every pub.... so id say pool
but both are great!!!!

Always prefer pool when at Rileys.

Pool tends to be a quicker game than snooker at my standard too. An hour on a snooker table is not going to see us get as far as 4 frames, but an hour at pool can see many more games played.

I'd never go to rileys to play pool, a lively pub playing killer for cash does me.

pretty much everyone can get on the pool table and play an alright game.

Snooker is lolage...looks so easy on tv but you're lucky if you can make a break of 8 with a red and black haha (at least thats my experience lol)

I got my highest break of 37 last week!

I love snooker, play twice a week, although generally am pretty pap.

Used to be pretty good at pool, but haven't played for ages

Eh? I play snooker at rileys probs once a month but I regularly get 40-50 breaks... I'm also not trying to sound pig-headed etc... If you play carefully you can always rack up a nice break!

Pool as it's more of a quick casual fun game
Would be preferred by the masses

Lol as with everything you get better with practice...just saying that after a few games of pool most people can play an average game plus its much easier to pot if you're playing america pool with the bucket pockets.

@tomwatts I get where you're coming at also, some people are quite good even with minimal play, but its so impressive to see the pros work the white so easily around the table. Its a sport just like golf which looks easy but when you play it you appreciate why the pros are called pros

Wish we had a club in our town, have to play in a pub, with a **** landlord. Not a bad table though

Pool is a "quick turn around game" hence its so popular.... snooker is a thinkers game like chess for dummies (no offence)......

37 is a good break.. how many weeks you been playing :D kidding i like the game but i cant play if my life depended on it lol

Snooker every time, 108 is my highest break.

in my first game i scored an unbelievable 150!

i play decent pool, but snooker, wow that game is harder than it looks. My friends who couldnt play pool very well tried their hand on snooker - they took about an hour to finish.

If i had a choice, then, id choose pool - its just more better for social reasons (plus easier to get the girls to play :D )

were talkin bout your snooker break not your darts :p

Pool!!!

Especially when your drunk in a pub.

Try not to get 7 balled though, or else you'll be running around the table with your pants down!!!

I used to go into a pub where the rule was you had to stick your testicles in a pocket and let your opponent take a free shot... The joys of MerseysideoO

That's excellent, clearance? Or did you miss the last few colours?

I've been playing about 10 years on and off, started taking it more seriously recently, am going to book myself in with a coach soon

No, I took lots of lower value colours and missed the last blue (I think), not got anywhere close since though, my highest lately has been around 80. I used to play 7 nights a week and did get to quite a good standard but age has caught up with me I'm afraid

Any top tips? Have just changed my stance, which improved my game no end. My main problem is I seem to have to belt it to get any action on the cueball

Keep the que in a straight line, you prob won't be able to tell so get someone to have a look.
Feel the que, balance it and follow through to get better reaction. (table cloth may be thick/sluggish so you dont get much reaction)
My highest break was 45 about 15 yrs ago, hardly played since my son was born.

On a good day I cue relatively well, regularly get 20 odd (pretty much every game) just seem to fall a few inches out of position and it all falls down.

Practice I suppose

I would defo go for coaching, they will take you back to the start and teach you the basics, you dont need to 'belt' the cue ball at all. Its all in the timing.

Just remembered, one of the key things that helped me was to que up to the white as close as you can b4 taking the shot.
#33
As in your hand or the tip of the cue?

I think my bridge hand is already too close, don't feel confident enough to put it further back

the tip, it's a mistake I used to make.

and whatever you feel comfortable with on the pull back, also try to get the standard stance But it still has to be what you feel comfortable
