I have a 9 year old cousin who recently wanted a bike, he wanted a bmx because he thought it looked 'cool', so that what he got. He chose a red one as its his favourite colour, the point i'm trying to get across is ask which one your son thinks looks 'cool', they are all around a similar price so you can't really go wrong. His is the most important opinion

Yeah I get what you are saying, I just don't want to get a heap of poop and it falls apart on him! That won't look very cool! :w00t:

you will have to put it together from there.

Halfords are good for bikes for that age group.....they build them and then you can take it back a month later for a free check over in case anything has come loose.

they were all more expensive in Halfords, I have put together a few in my time so not worried about putting it together. Thanks for help though

I like the street wolf best from what you have posted.

What ever one you choose, I'm sure he will be chuffed.

I am sure he will, any one of these will be better than the one he has now, it's about big enough for a 4 year old!!!!

I wouldn't trust them to put together lego. I used to do cycling proficiency training - session 1 was always a bike safety test to check that the bike was safe to use. On 2 separate occasions I 'failed' brand new bikes from Halfords due to them being incorrectly set up, i.e. remedial action was needed to make them safe. One of them had come straight from the shop!

Do you think it's the same member of staff that puts them together in every branch?

Or just your local branch has a numpty working for them.

I've had 3 bikes from my local branch and never had a problem with them....I've checked them all over before letting my kids on them and never found fault.

Numptyism seems to be part of the training.

I was in there one day and watched one 'mechanic' indexing the gears, showing the new lad how to do it .... and doing it wrong.

The poor customer was also stood there watching him, none the wiser, and I was thinking you're paying him to make a mess up of your bike.

If your son likes the Dunlop bmx it can be found much cheaper from here: http://www.sportsdirect.com/Products/SD/PID-Dunlop+BMX-722028.aspx?ColCode=72202803
