I have been looking to get into a bit of shares so thought would get some opinion up here for online trading ...

Any recommendations ... I have been told Selftrade.co.uk is a good one ... I am quite new to all this so do not have a criteria set for selection ... Would be glad to know from the experts who have been using it ... Also any forums to keep track on online trading if you know ...

Many Thanks,
SS

WOW.. Very interesting..
What a shame this wasn't put in place earlier. I hope it becomes permanent.
Many companies have been brought to their knees by shorters, and too many people put out of work in the process..

I have been using these guys for a number of years, not had any probs, used for selling shares through work, reliable and found my money to be safe.
you do have to join up though, there is a charge of around £10- £15 for transactions, occasionally they have free transaction days when you can buy / sell without fees.
They usually e mail you. hope it helps:thumbsup:

Depends how often you deal, some institutions give you a lower rate the more you deal, If only occasionally then iii charge £10 a deal, they are one of the cheapest. This of course is for a nominee account, if you want to trade in certificates it will be more. You might also want to check CFD`s as there is no tax payable on these and the cost is not as high.
Also if you wish to build up a portfolio paying in so much per month there are no fees until Christmas., full details on the iii site.
