Not a Torch, not an N8
If you're bored of Android, I'd go with a Windows Mobile 7 phone which have just been released
Symbian is shutting down, with Nokia giving up on it, making the N8 a dead end, and the Torch has just been described as a mediocre Blackberry, might aswell go for a Bold or a Curve if you are wanting one! :)

no dont want any other bb what is the windows 7 phone called

also what abouth the xperia x10

There are a bunch of them, O2 exclusively have the HD7
Orange have the HTC Mozart
and Vodafone, the HTC Trophy
The Optimus 7 takes my fancy, if I were to get rid of my Desire I think I'd end up with an iPod Touch and that

EDIT: The X10 is just another Android phone, with lesser specs, build quality, and support than the Desire, apart from the bigger screen
While on the Desire you were probably on version 2.2, the latest and fastest version of Android, the X10 is stuck on 1.6, and owners are still waiting for an upgrade to 2.1, not even 2.2. The phone also suffers from poor battery life, and so on, definitely not a worthy phone to ditch a Desire for

hmmm never had an lg phone before

looked at the windows phones a bit out of my price range tbh also i am on 3

what didn't you like about the desire?

The only smartphones worth buying at the moment are Android phones, iOS phones, and Windows Phone 7 phones (until HP bring out some respectable hardware running WebOS 2)
Any Android phone you buy now will disappoint you after you were spoilt by the Desire, which is arguably the best device out at the moment running that OS

i got a bit **** of with the desire tbh, i found it slow even though i was using the advanced app killer and had it set to kill all apps when the screen was off. then it came up saying software update available which i did then the wi-fi stopped working after the update so it went back to htc who had it for nearly a month before they sent it back to me.

have been thinking overnight about getting a iphone 4 but not sure yet depends on price, also where is the best place to get sim free phones not sure if i can trust ebay, went into the carphone warehouse and phones 4 u and they both refused to sell me one without a contract.

Try http://www.Esato.com, it's a mobile phone forum with mostly friendly members, been going for a long time and their marketplace is very competitive and active

I'm due a new upgrade tomorrow and was planning on gettin the Torch. I reckon the Iphone is far too expensive for a phone (I know it does more), and I've never any of the Androids. Currently have a BB Curve which I really like and my wife has one too so I use BBM a lot.

Tends to run sluggish as hell until the lag fix is installed after a root, which I doubt OP will perform
Great phone though, stunning screen although I don't know if I'd trade my Desire for one or not
Enjoy your phone anyway, hope it works great
